Today I have to toot @owlwings horn for this wonderful blog site he did for MyLot. The name of his blog is “How to use MyLot” and the blog URL is located at the bottom of this post. Please go there to find your direct link to the site. I have searched all rules and can’t find any that says I am breaking them to post this. I feel like this member is so dedicated, helpful, and caring they need their horn tooted today. I further know they won’t ever do it themselves. So I am doing it for them. This blog is the most detailed information you will find about this site. I have visited it several times. He has spent an enormous amount of time creating this blog for MyLot members. The blog is professional looking and very informative. I would recommend all members to go and take a look. Unfortunately, not many people on this site even know it exists. So I am here today to tell you about it. I am sorry if I have broken any rules on the site for posting this. If you repot this and it is deleted I am responsible and will take my punishment like an adult. I just hope that people who have read this will go there for some wonderful insight and information. Thank you, Ann, for the 'puff'! You can imagine a rather bashful and tongue-tied owl with the spotlight suddenly turned on him. I started the page(s) as a quick tutorial back in 2013 when the site changed its looks and a lot of people felt lost. It's grown a bit since then and the URL you quoted is to the 'Welcome' page I created to save typing more or less the same thing when welcoming new members.

You are welcome and I feel that people should go here to find new information. Sorry to ruffle your features a bit but they need it now and then. I know this blog is only to help people and it is wonderful you spent so much time on it. It is very professional and worth the time to go there to learn from you. Thank you for doing this and I am happy to share this. I might get in trouble but it was worth it if you ask me.

For all those who do not know (and even if they do know) - The four people who are the pillars of MyLot are - Owlwings, PhredWreck, GoAskAlice and MysDianait. I am not tagging them here. Those of us who have been around at MyLot since years, will know the reasons why I say so - They have always been so very friendly and so very warm. Not only they keep us updated with their pearls of knowledge but also do give us a healthier MyLot in their capacities. And I am proud to have been a part of MyLot and share the same space with these great souls. I must add here that you dear @poehere are doing a great job as you spread the word about the work done by respected Owlwings and your discussions are also great - I see you have been helping many by your posts and other ways. Keep up the great work.

@poehere Wow, that is news to me - you are a teacher - and now I know the reason. I started off my career as a Teacher too and taught for 16 years before I fell ill. Even today, I do have a few students at home to teach. A very noble profession and it has some thing in it that no other profession can get you.

Why thank you so much. I have always been a teacher from the beginning. I think it comes of having a crew of 17 guys I needed to help, give work to and train. Plus all the places we worked training and teaching. I ended up in this role because where I worked believed I had the skills they needed to get the jobs done. Here on the site I have many ideas how to do things and to share. Some of them fall flat because after sharing them I see the responses and then understand oops maybe not such a good idea after all. You are very kind and also help so many on the site. I am happy to know you and interact with you here on MyLot.

That is sort of what this post is about. To let everyone on the site know of this blog and where they can find it. They can suggest it or read it.

The “How to use MyLot” blog is an essential piece of reading for any myLot user - in fact, a better name for it might be "The Idiot's Guide to Using MyLot", but that probably is a trademark title... @owlwings @poehere

I think I thought about "The Idiot's Guide" but I would hate to think that I thought my readers to be idiots!

@owlwings A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools - so a Fools' Guide is always needed, if not an Idiots' one!

That is excellent. I did not realize about this till I read a comment yesterday. It said if you knew where to find it or where to look it will be there for you. So I knew where to look and how to find it. I am not sure new people do. So today I decided to tell them where to look and how to find it. I loved it when I first saw it. Very well done and so professional. My hats off to @owlwings for his hard work.

He is a super sweet person to do this and I just thought I would give him credit. I feel when a person does or goes the extra mile he deserves a pat on the back and his name in lights so to say. So I just wanted everyone here to know he had done this and what I thought of it. Sure hope it helps and a lot of people will go there.

I loved being greeted by @owlwings the day I arrived here and I often go back to see what his posts says. I was so overwhelmed with info that first day I couldn't take it all in but now that I've read it over and over I do understand. I had a question this morning as I headed to the computer but now I've forgotten what it was. When I remember I will ask it.

I just arrived here not long ago too. I had a nice welcome message on my first post from many people. I've have been a moderator on several data recovery forums and had a small understanding about how this worked. The format is a little different but the idea is basically the same. You are only sort of missing the spreadsheet look on here and it is a little like FB too. So basically to start and get friends you still work around in the same fashion. Help, read, interact and give advice. That is what is nice here.

@rahulvsmokiee You really shouldn't leave comments all in capital letters. It appears you are angry and yelling at me. Furthermore, this is against the rules and you should be careful to do this one. You can make one or two words capital to get a point across but not all of them like you have done.

I have many friends here on the site. Even you. I just think when a person puts this much work into helping out others he needs some credit for it. He is not one to post it himself so I did it for him.

I am happy to hear this. I did not realize that people have done this one. I saw most of them pointing to the guideline on this site and not so much this blog. After I brought this to the attention here now i see more people giving this link than the guidelines on the site. I think he goes into a lot more details to make it much easier to understand.
