Back to the Eye Hospital today

It is a couple of weeks since I attended the Royal Eye Hospital and had the retina in my right eye laser treated to weld it securely to the back of the eye. Today I have an appointment to have the result checked, which I am hoping shows that it was satisfactory. Assuming that the result is good I am uncertain as to whether I will have a further appointment for the same form of examination, or be referred back to Withington Hospital to undergo the cataract assessment again. My first appointment there was early October, so the time schedule has been totally destroyed by this later development and it now seems that the operation may end up being in 2016. Oh well, I will find out eventually what the final outcome is and will simply have to accept it.

Things should definitely improve once the cataracts have been removed.

@babaraimc Yes, I have been told by many people that the operation is just a simple one and no problem. Nevertheless, you are perfectly right that it is still serious to me, which is human nature.

@LadyDuck I am now being referred back to Withington Hospital, where I previously attended prior to the tear in the retina being noticed. This involves waiting now for them to contact me with an appointment date and time. Even a simple matter such as having my result examined yesterday can involve long delays. I arrived and reported to reception at 1-40 PM for my 2 PM appointment, but was still sat there waiting at 3 PM. I should have called at the library on my way and borrowed a copy of War and Peace.

@Asylum I hoped that they were going to fix a new appointment immediately. Now you have to wait again.

I can understand wanting to get it done and over with. I hope they can schedule you sooner than 2016.

It is looking very unlikely because I now need to wait for another appointment.

I am at the hospital at the moment, so I should have a better idea before long as to what the situation is.

We are all here to cheer you up. Just do not think of when this will all be over. From what I know from those around me it is a simple surgery.

Everyone is constantly informing me that it is not a problem, but that does not deter me from anticipation.

I am certainly anticipating no issues this time, although I am still not sure what the next step will be.
