Finally found an alternative to Bubblews.

United Kingdom

I haven't been on Bubblews for ages but I decided to pop over and have a look what was going on today. I have had about $6 stuck in my account since I stopped using it in the summer. I was hoping that things might have picked up a bit. Surprisingly I was met with the ' this site is now closes' page. I assumed it had been closed for a while but it turns out it had closed about an hour before I checked it. Strange coincidence that I thought to go on there today, the day it closes. I asked on moneysavingexpert if there were any good alternatives around as I used to love bubblews and was recommended this site. So as a newbie I don't know much about this site. It seems a bit stricter on what you can post I was surprised by the no recipes and no jokes rule. I like reading other people's recipes but I guess it's their site so their rules which is fair enough. What are the main differences between mylot and bubblews ? Is there anything in particular I should be aware of ?

Well, for one you won't get points for posting, but you will if you interact with people and I'll bet if you really wanted to get recipes you could do that in a conversation. Mylot is much more social than bubblews ever could have been, I think you'll love it here.

That's a given @shellyjaneo but if you do quote a book just put it in parentheses and give the author credit for it, that way you are not stealing.

@rebelann Will do, I would always do that anyway but I guess a lot of people don't bother x

@rebelann Yes @mommaj mentioned on my slow cooking fudge post that it's ok to discuss cooking and recipes in that way but obviously not just posting them straight from books as that would be plagiarism x

Welcome to MyLot! I'm pretty sure that you'll have fun here and quickly find it addictive. Below is my standard introduction to the site (saves typing a whole load of links!). The differences between MyLot and Bubblews are, as several have already said, that MyLot is 'discussion based'. There's a slight difference between the way that one might write about a subject as an 'article' and the way one might phrase it as a 'discussion'. It isn't necessarily a matter of tagging a question on the end, it's more to do with making the way you approach a subject 'open ended': rather than just stating an opinion or facts, you are asking for other people's experiences and opinions. Think of it as the difference between a lecture and a conversation. Another difference between the two sites is that, here, there are no restrictions - apart from common sense - on the number of words/characters you may use, not on the number of discussions you may post a day. Remember, though, that earnings are based not on what or how much you post but on how much others interact with you!
A quick user guide to MyLot with answers to some Frequently Asked Questions, a short history of MyLot and other notes Pages Useful Links Welcome to MyLot MyLot is a social site which rewards you for taking part in discussions. There are members from all ov

ahh, another twist I missed. Now my brain has to rethink how to label my discussions, well, that can't be bad.

We are expecting an exodus here all coming from Bubblews., More the merrier. Welcome to myLot. You are sure going to enjoy here. I do not think we have met there. But that is not important. What is important is that we both participate and make this site sizzling with activity,.

@shellyjaneo I can't say this is an alternative as the principles on which myLot works are different. Here the emphasis is on interaction.

Hopefully only the decent ones not the cheats. I left Bubblews a long time ago and have been looking for an alternative for ages. I'm quite excited I finally may have found one x

@allknowing Well no but my favourite part of bubblews was the interacting, which I guess was more by design of the members more than the site x

I like all the comments left here for you. No recipes or jokes because they are usually copy and paste and thankfully this site is on top of cheaters. Its a fun place and you will love it here. Welcome.

This was my first paying site, nine years ago and I love it. On the topic of recipes, I discussed this with Alex. If your recipe is part of a discussion there is nothing wrong with it. Like I could have a discussion about "My husband hates pasta, but loves my lasagna" and tell my recipe, plus what he has against pasta. In the past there were people who would just copy pages out of a cookbook and say nothing about the recipe. I am glad you are here.

Yes I can imaging there have been a lot of cheats over the years which is sad but happens on all sites. I am getting used to the site now and am enjoying it, x

On myLot, it is the amount of interaction that counts, and so it is just as important to interact on other people's discussions as it is to write - maybe more important. There are a lot of bubblers here, so you will find much to be the same. The biggest difference is the payout is only $10, they automatically pay you every month if you are at $10 or more and you actually get the money. That's the best difference.

Yeah I thought that's what I read it as but I am always dubious that I have mis-read things. That is great and less risk of losing money by trying to build it up if anything did happen to the site. After Bubblews and Dooyoo going I don't have much faith in any sites at the moment x

the main difference is that your comments and likes to other writers do you more favours than your own articles so interaction is very important here

That's good I am hoping it will be nice and social I find I have much more motivation to write if there is a good community feel x

Consider yourself fortunate, I know others that left hundreds with Bubblews when it pulled the plug. Personally when I saw it going down fast a few weeks ago I started my own Blog and started making money from it, so I don't miss them. Now I am in full control with no rules or restrictions to deal with.

I can't believe people left so much in their I always used to withdraw as soon as I could in case anything went wrong. That's good that you are making money from your own blog well done x

Hello and welcome to mylot. The main difference between the two is 'interaction'. Here there is true interaction. Well, there is also another one, but I will refrain from any negativity. Simply enjoy yourself and have fun.

@shellyjaneo No, not everyone does, some are still stuck in the formats of what Bubblews was, but you will run across a lot more who will carry on a conversation on a discussion. Those are the ones I like, for I am not big on writing discussions myself.

It's more of a paid Facebook or Yahoo Answers type site. You get paid for interacting. Discussion seems to be important. VS. the emphasis of posting on Bubblews. Welcome.

Hi @shellyjaneo. I found my way here too. Bubblews made off with $11 of mine but it had been stuck there for months not moving. I'm liking this site so far but missing the image choosing but each site is different. :)

Yeah not having stock images is a pain, especially as I'm not sure of the rules on using external ones so I am being caerful not to just in case. I don't want any excuse to get in trouble. I am enjoying it so far, slowly finding my way around. I hope it works well for you. My money had been in my bubblews account since the summer and I think it may have moves $1 in that time x

HubPages is a realy nice writing site, they have a lot of good tools and you can use Amazon and eBay to earn money along with your own writing, if you lin to the item or thing you're writing about.

Yeah I am loving it so far, everyone seems really nice and friendly. Hopefully they have their algorithms set up well so that what we are earning is sustainable. At the moment I think it's about half of what bubblews was at its best but that is absolutely fine and more than you would expect.
