Price Shocker or Is It?

I saw in the news recently that the price of Girl Scout cookies are going up to $5.00 a box in many areas of the country and probably will be in smaller boxes and I got to thinking back when I was a girl scout and sold cookies back in the mid 1960s when the price was 50 cents a box.
When I first heard it was a sticker shock (and thought it is a good thing I can get thin mint cookies that are almost the same at Dollar General for under two dollars), but I got thinking of how much other things have gone up since then such as candy and soda which you cou get for a dime are now both close if now over a dollar for a bar or can (bottle in those day) of soda. So if I should see some girl scouts selling I may buy a box to support them.
Have you experienced sticker shock in recent days?

I haven't bought any in several years. I thought I had heard that they upped the price a year or so ago. I found a Keebler cookie that is very much like one of the GS cookies that I liked so I am happy.

There are several brands out there that match the taste of favorite girl scout cookies. I know two or three that match the thin mints.

Sticker shock happens virtually any time I cross the threshold of a store.

I'm a cheap person so a lot of things give me sticker shock. I only pay out the big bucks if I feel the purchase is worth it. When it comes to the girl scout cookies, I would
most likely purchase a box to support the girl scouts. Not because I once was one (I wasn't), but as you said, to support them and their cause.

Its pure charity when you buy those cookies now. I wonder how much the Girl Scouts get from that hiked up price? I find it a tad sad that the girls selling the goods mostly get something like a stuffed animal for all their hard work.
