I read some news this morning about the new tram line that was being built in Manchester City Center. The workers were in the process of digging up for construction when they came across 100 plus dead bodies and remains.
Researchers state that they are from the 18th century. I have been to the city center many times and it is horrible to think all that time there were dead bodies underneath where we walked.
The reference for this post:
Metrolink engineers have uncovered what is thought to be a 200-year-old Unitarian Chapel graveyard - beneath Cross Street

In the UK lately, every time a major building work takes place, archaeologists are entitled to dig, to see if anything interesting can be found before it is built over.
This is happening in Oxford at the moment and they have found all sorts of interesting objects

You just don't know what under your foot. I wouldn't have liked to have been the person who discovered them.

Oh my god!! That is absolutely insane to think about. I wonder if they are going to spend time trying to identify who these people are

@Castlerock34 I might have gotten that wrong, apparently it was a graveyard of some sort.

@gudheart Oh ok. So it was an unmarked graveyard?

That's really, really creepy, at least they'll be able to notify the people who have missing loved ones that they found them.

there are several large communal burial sites under the Manchester city centre - this is a new find though

Now they should expect some apparitions to happen because those souls resting in peace were disturbed!

@Auntylou Okay, they say that to see is to believe . . I hope one night you see an apparition or a ghost. Just let us know if it happens any night soon!
I am just kidding!
