Why are we not allowed to delete published articles from Wikinut?

Wikinut allows you publish articles and posts with them and even earn some online income from them, which is great. What's not great is that if you want to delete any of your published work from the site you can't do that. There is no delete button. To take your work down from the site you have to write admin and ask them to take it down for you. Now I have never wanted to delete anything but I wonder... If you ask that your article be deleted will they do it or can they say that they will not remove the work from their site? Would you write for a site that doesn't let you delete your work yourself? Do you think it's right for them to not allow that option in the first place? And why are we not allowed to delete our own work from the site, especially if we own the copyright?

Back in the day, I think a lot of these sites were "content mills." In other words, they'd get stuff posted by lesser known writers, take the ideas, and then generate their own content around those generated ideas all in the guise of doing something else. I do wish we had more writing sites like we used to, but it's becoming harder and harder to find places to publish anymore. Even HubPages seems like it might soon be on the outs.

It seems like Wikinut still exists because I got an email from them recently. I don’t remember about what. I guess my account is still active there too. As for HubPages, I should try and write something new there. I haven’t done that in a long time.

@porwest I have to log in and see what my stats are. Haven’t done that in a while. I hope they are not shutting down.

@lovebuglena HubPages has gone wonky. Stats haven't updated for going on something like three months. Most people there tend to think they are quietly shutting it down. But they're still accepting articles and featuring them and transferring them to Discover, and paying, so who knows?

They probably don't allow you to delete your articles because it is like a wiki, and they don't want people to just delete thier articles.

I am not sure if they consider themselves a wiki or not. Curious to know where the name came from and how they came up with it...

Thank you. It would be interesting to hear about this from someone who writes for the site.

Each article sharing websites has it's own terms and conditions. Most of the websites allow users to delete data shared by them. And if it a good paying site I will never worry whether thay allow me to delete my data or not

With wikinut if your written article is rejected then you can delete it yourself as there is a delete link. But if it is approved and published the delete option is no longer available. I wonder if the FAQs say anything about that.
