Carbon Footprint? How About a Carbon Blanket?

Did you know that humans send about nine (9) gigatons of carbon into the atmosphere each year? Unfortunately, the earth can only absorb about five (5) gigatons of it each year. That leaves four (4) gigatons of carbon floating around in the atmosphere, creating a carbon blanket and further increasing the amount of heat our atmosphere traps (which helps contribute to global warming). One gigaton equals one billion tons! Ugh! We all need to do a better job of lowering our carbon footprint! By recycling, becoming more energy-efficient, and driving less, we can do our part to minimize the amount of greenhouse gasses we're sending into the atmosphere! Have you taken any steps to reduce your carbon footprint?

Do you know that cows and beef release much more carbon than humans? There is a reason why they are now making us believe that meat is dangerous to eat, less cows less carbon emissions.

Yes, I have known for a while that cattle contributes great amounts of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. They also release high amounts of methane as well. Although I have not given up meat completely, I have cut back greatly on my beef consumption.

@moffittjc @LadyDuck There is a great documentary called 'cowspiracy'. Someone mentioned it in a comment on a post today.

@JudyEv I did not know, thank you Judy, this is interesting. I already thought about conspiracy at the time of the mad cow. A lot of talking for a few deaths! Pretty weird.

@moffittjc It’s very sad and scary. I think it’s great that we can all do our part but I feel like more could be done. More on the governments side though. I am always recycling and doing what I can to save electricity and water. And I am always donating things here and there hoping they will be used again by others. It actually frustrates me when I hear people just causally throw things out or waste things or doing things that are so harmful to our world. It annoys me that NASA is apparently looking for a new planet for us to live on. More like find another planet for us to destroy.

There's no question we'll totally destroy any other planet or world we try to live on. We're like termites who destroy everything in their path!

We recycle as much as we can. We also make good use of bits and pieces that we keep in the way of timber, iron, etc.

I try to practice "reduce, reuse, recycle" as much as I can. I usually don't have to take the trash out that often because I don't usually have much to throw away. I also try to re-purpose things into other useful things.

I recycle as much as I can. In the past, I have ridden a bike quite a bit, but I like to walk a lot now. Thankfully, I live close to my work, and near parks and shopping areas.

Each year human population is increasing. It is impossible to avoid vehicles and industrial activities. It is wise to shift the power sector to Green Energy

I think mine has grown since I retired. When I was at school, my heater and a/c were off. But I am at home more, so they run when needed. But, I recycle and use my head about what I purchase, so that might make up for it. Oh, my driving has been reduced by thousands of miles each year too.
