When I went to the mall last Saturday , I saw this mascara like thing in the place where hair dyes are .
I was actually buying a hair dye . But that one caught my eyes , it Saying Cover-Up , Touch Up for the grays .
Yes, it's a cover -up for the grays that are sprouting on your temples or hairline when it’s not yet time to dye the whole hair , but you will be suddenly attending an occasion .
It’s expensive though . It is for 245 pesos (US$5.44) while a good brand of hair dye only costs 38 pesos ($1.18) per sachet .
And you guess it right , I didn’t buy it .
You know what I use for emergency cover up of my grays - black pentel pen .

It never occurred to me that you can actually use pentel pen to cover up gray hair. Anyway, I don't dye my hair at all.. I love the natural gray or "salt and pepper" look

I have heard people using black eyeliner for colouring their grey hair on sides and right in the middle.

@SIMPLYD - Yes, you are right that black mark could come on the comb.
The new product 'cover up' may be better than eyeliner for grey hair, I understand.

@dpk262006 I think it is the same because it is like a semi-liquid thing .

I recall me doing the mustache on my younger bro when we were too young to have them... with black fountain pen ink
I love gray hair - the only problem, I am too young to have them all at one place in a bunch. A few strands here and a few strands their make it more funny today
Wife uses Henna for coloring her grays.

@SIMPLYD Don't wish for the grays when you become older
I wont look good without any on my head
For the henna, buying out fresh leaf and grinding them in the mixer is the best. But as the leaf is not available easily, the packed powders are sometimes odd and result with stiff hair. She too had some problems with a few packaged ones. Luckily she found a very local company, and she uses that now.
Did you leave the powder to soak overnight? That might be a reason for the stiff hair in case they did not add any more chemicals to it.

Why is that so ?
Me, i guess when my grays has become more than my black hair , i would also stop dyeing them already .

I remember Avon had a product something like that many years ago. I bought them in bulk!

@SIMPLYD You could use it to put temporary highlights in your hair.

I gave up coloring my hair last year and now it is nearly all white. For thirty some years I colored my hair. Like you, I would not purchased the hair color cover-up due to price. Not sure what a pentel pen in but I use to use Sharpie permanent marker which I am guessing is about the same thing. Sometimes I would use my regular mascara. Worked great without all that expense.

I have my hair dyed every 4 months, or before the start of the semester. I have my hair dyed black, and I cannot imagine myself donning a blond or brown type of crowning glory. My hair is also getting longer again.

@SIMPLYD I use a bar herbal black shampoo and this makes my hair black with constant use; however, my hair is not soft- it gets sticky and tangled because of the contents of the bar shampoo. I will make a post about this later.

I prefered to start dying when grays began. Now I don´t remember what color was my original hair.
THe only thing I worry now about dyes is that they are castings. I dont want to hurt my scalp with strong dyes.

Yes, we should be discerning in choosing hair dyes . They should have no ammonia and of herbal ingredients.

NO, it's only for those some gray hairs from the roots that are showing up , not the long strand of white .

Those nasty, stubborn grays keep showing up at my temples
I usually just do the dye job and have never considered buying a touch up kit.

They're the first to show up -those at the temples . A touch up kit is a bit expensive though . so i just rub the hair with a black pentel pen . Would you consider doing that too , on occasions when there isn't a need to dye the etiire hair yet ?
