My son wants a new phone. He texts that to me and sends me a mime that says MOM stands for . Made of Money I cannot stop laughing.. He sent this meme because he knows that I will tell him money doesn't grow on trees around here.. His phone is falling apart and I have already told him that he will get it as his graduating gift, which he will do in December. It seems now that this new expense would add on to already heavy Christmas budget. Does being a MOm sometimes makes you feel this way

I know that when my kids were young, that always thought I was made of money. Once when I told my son that I didn't have the money for a certain item, he said, but you have checks . He was about 5 or 6 at the time.

When our son was away at university, he was shopping at the bookstore and bought me a t-shirt that read Bank of Mom on it, under that it read that paybacks can be made thru doing dishes, cleaning, and other favours. I never wore the shirt much but when I did I got a lot of comments on how cute it was.

Thankfully my son didn't find something like that.. I wouldn't have worn it though I would have got a good laugh from it.

@sofssu exactly, it is not really the material thing that matters to us but the thought that our children is making us feel they love and appreciate us.

Yes my daughter would always ask money from me, not his father. I just can't say no to her when i can afford it. If not, i tell my husband about it, so he can give.

@sofssu That is good. And yes, I guess when they don't ask for much, when they really do, you feel the need to get it for them. I know I am that way with my kids. My youngest more than the rest. Yeah, one day he will be getting you things.

My mom found me a job when I was 14 yeas old and then I earned my own money, through high school and university and I paid for my own marriage. I never asked for money ever again but she always gave me some which I saved. I love my mom. She taught me well. May she rest in peace!
