My company (brother in law and his wife) has gone back to New Jersey now. We had a great visit and enjoyed doing a few things together. We had a lot of nice conversations and laughed together. It is always nice to get together with them. While they were here, we decided to visit the Laurel and Hardy Museum, which is about forty-five minutes away from where I live. We had a good time checking out all the Laurel and Hardy memorabilia. The museum plays a movie for its visitors, and the one they played for us is called, "The Music Box". Edited to add picture.

I remember watching Laurel and Hardy movies on Saturday mornings. The good old days when there weren't a million channels to choose from.

I am not old enough that they came on TV in my era. We did rent Laurel and Hardy movies though. I grew up knowing who they were.

@JudyEv I love to watch good comedians, but so many of the new ones suck. It seem female comedians are the worse. LOL

I watched a Charlie Chaplin skit the other day. These old comedians were so clever weren't they?

Yes, I think there are two of them around. One is Oliver Hardy hometown, which is the one I seen. I think Stan Laurel has one in his hometown too.

@slund2041 They were classic comedians. Before our time, but we've all still seen or heard some of the routines.

@JudyEv I usually do have guinea pigs for dinner. It seems I am always trying a new dish when I am cooking for guest.

@slund2041 We called our friends 'guinea pigs' as Vince was trying out some new recipes. Luckily they tasted really great.

@BelleStarr It is well worth the visit. Usually the first week of October they have a national day of Laurel and Hardy festival at the same place. My husband and I were thinking of going this year, but it was canceled due to rain storms and flooding.

Yes, it is a nice museum. It is open six days a week. Oliver Hardy was born in Harlen GA, and that is the place where the museum is held.

I grew up watching Laurel and Hardy, and I thought they were the funniest duo ever! Between them and the Three Stooges, I think I never stopped laughing as a kid! Maybe someday I can visit the Laurel and Hardy museum and show my kids what they are missing out on these days!

It is hard for young kids to appreciate the good humor of Laurel and Hardy. I showed my little cousin's a couple of the films, and they were bored.

@slund2041 That's true, I didn't think about that. The comedy that kids these days are experiencing is much different than the comedy we experienced back in the day! I do have to say though that my kids really like the old "Little Rascals" and "Our Gang" episodes! I don't think Spanky, Alfalfa, Buckwheat and the rest of the gang will ever go out of style with kids!

It was interesting. They had all sorts of Laurel and Hardy memorabilia. They had a car with Laurel and Hardy inside. They would allow people to pose with Laurel and Hardy and have their picture made, wearing the same type of hats from that era. It was cool. My husband and I had our picture made with Laurel and Hardy in the car with the hats. It was a fun time.

This was before my time just like Laurel and Hardy was, but my mom liked Abbott & Costello so she brought me up watching those too. We would rent old movies on them on VHS tapes.

@dorianna The new comedians are not as classy with their skits as they were years ago. Now most comedians are full of dirty talk and jokes. I watch the new comedians, but prefer the older comedians. I cannot stand the women comedians, because they seem to be worse comedians with the nasty mouth. Speaking of nasty mouth comedians I did love George Carlin, but he has past away now.

Yes they are comedians, but not cartoon characters. Here is a link for one of their short films. This one is called "The Music Box".
This film won the very first Academy Award for Live Action Short Film (Comedy) in 1932. Hal Roach
