Musical Tour

Canada
November 25, 2015 1:32pm CST
In a few days I will be heading out on a musical tour. No, I'm not a famous musician or even a not-so-famous one. I will be part of the tour as the "Tour Nanny" -- a name coined by my musician friend. They have asked me to accompany their husband-wife duo because they have three young kids and going on tour left them with a challenge. The kids are great travellers and their parents are not comfortable with leaving them behind, so they invited me to come along with them to watch the kids while they are on stage. Whether or not we will actually be present for the performances will depend upon the venue. I hope we do get to hear them play, but whether or not we do, I'm sure we will have some fun times. The kids are like my adopted grandkids, as their grandparents live far away and so do my grandchildren. I'm looking forward to the experience, although I expect it will be a mixed one. At least we will have some laughs, if our past times together are any indication. I'll let you know whether we survive.

@AbbyGreenhill Thanks. Even the couple that asked me were afraid I'd refuse because it will probably be tiring as well. Still I like to help them out when I can.

@Marcyaz It probably isn't something I'd want to do every day, but I love those kids and will enjoy it the best I can.

That sounds like it could be a lot of fun and since you know the children and the parents it should be a good time had by all. I do hope you and the children will be able to see the parents perform. Good Luck and let us know how it turns out. Will it be International or just in the US?

We live in Canada and it's a fairly local tour. We will travel from place to place mostly in the mountains so the drive will be pretty as long as the roads are clear. The weather is predicted to be good.

That really sounds like it could be a lot of fun and educational! Find out what you could do at the places where you will go to. Depending on how long you are in each town, you could visit a library or children's museum or some place that is interesting or unique to the town. Can I be the wardrobe mistress?!?!

@Sheilamarie78 I bet it would be fun to go on tour with a theater company. I love to work on costumes for plays. It's a real blast!

@bluerubymoon53 That would be fun to have you along! The towns are small and we'll be in a different one each day except for a couple of days in a city.

Hope you have a good time, even if it sounds quite arduous. I found their video, so I got to see one of the kids you'll be nannying! Nice singing, I have to say!

Thanks for sharing the video Owl, it reminded me of an old Shania Twain video she made herself in black in white with her husband at the time. The child's song and building blocks in the background are a sailing melody. How long is the tour to be Sheila?

@owlwings That little one is 5 now, so the video is an older one. The tour will last a week. Here's another video playing with their band:

@owlwings How did you embed that video? I'm going to try again and paste the "embed" code from Youtube, but in case it doesn't work, could you let us know the secret?

@celticeagle I know it can but these kids have spent time in the car before and are pretty good at it. I've also put together a few activities they can play with.

It will be a week away. I'm sure there will be stories . . . I won't be able to take my computer along as my husband and I share it and he'll be alone, but I'll catch up when I return.

Kind of an alternative/country style. They write all their own music.

You don't say how old they are but I guess is that they might be quite young. Hope you have a wonderful time away. We have to borrow grandkids too. Not because ours are far away but because we don't have any.
