Sweet crystaline morning. I finally put on enough stuff and headed out- maybe 15 above if I was optimistic. There she blows! A large and I mean large bird appeared to be checking out the chicken coop. I quit grabbing hay for Peter burro and stared at the avian guest. Oh. White! A bald eagle! A bald eagle seemed to be curious about who lived in the coop. In a moment he flew higher, toward the seasonal creek. I headed around the browned sunflower line, forgetting my chill, glorying in the intense morning light.

It was 16 this morning and is about 24 right now. The white predator. We have some that nest down by the river. It is cool to see them as we drive by for they will all set up in a tree bare of leaves they are all you see. Love to see fly free. We have laws against trapping them and keeping them.

I rarely see eagles here, @celticeagle. Sure made my day spotting him.

@sallypup ...Oh, I bet. They never stop taking my breath away. We were out driving one day and I saw one in a canyon. I took quite a bit of footage on my new cam corder with it. When I got home I thought I had labeled the tape well and I guess I didn't. It got taped over. I was pretty bummed.

@celticeagle John Denver comes to mind when I see your tamarack lined canyon with an eagle flying above it.

We have seen several eagles nearby lately as well. They are magnificent. A Cooper's hawk landed on my bird feeder this morning.

@jameshxstatic That hawk was probably hungry for an easy breakfast as well as being handsome.

@missmwngi The bald eagle is our country's National bird. The police would put me in jail if they caught me messing with this eagle.
