So called "experts" in the music industry told Adele that she should probably lose weight to gain more fans. Can you believe the nerve of these people? Suggesting that fans solely base their love of a musician and/or love of their music solely based on looks? Do they think people are really this shallow? Thankfully, Adele had the perfect response: she said that she does not make music for people's eyes, she makes music for their ears. Good job Adele, way to stand up for yourself! I think we should all have self-confidence like her!

@moffittjc The music industry is one of the most sickest places. Her response was perfect and very true. Sadly enough, the music industry would even bat an eyelid. They won't change. They are getting worse and worse. The music videos alone that pops out nowadays are becoming more crude and friggen satanic.

The movie industry and the music industry are very bad industries to be in. Lots of bad people running things, and lots of bad things that go on. The people who get sucked into those industries (actors, musicians) must conform or go along with the evilness or else they get blackballed or shunned from the industry.

@VivaLaDani13 I think you have to sell your soul to be famous these days.

@moffittjc I am glad someone else sees what goes on in those industries. I cringe when people say they want to be famous now. Fame isn't all that glorious. More goes on behind those doors.

Adele has an amazing voice and that is why people like her-not because of her looks. She has such a unique voice, it's amazing. I am glad she stuck up for herself because she was absolutely right!

I don't know why these music executives think that appearance matters so much. When you're listening to an Adele song on the radio, you can't see what she looks like, so why does it matter? The answer is, it doesn't!

I am not a fan of Adele. I couldn't name one of her songs. But I do admire her for her stance on the weight issue. Sadly, there are a lot of second rate singers who look good in music videos who are getting contracts while accomplished singers who are not as photogenic languish in obscurity.

I'm not a fan of the genre of music that Adele sings, but I appreciate a great voice when I hear one! And Adele has an amazing voice!

She couldn't have come up with a better answer than this one. Good for her!

She actually has some amazing responses to the things her critics say about her! She is one of those people who is not afraid to speak her mind, and she is very quick-witted in her responses! I really appreciate that in a person.

I like the way Adele thinks. She is learning to like herself and not allow haters to tell her what to do.

If they're talking about today's generation then I'm sorry to say but it's actually true. Most of them do base on looks. That is why so much of the music today is utter shhhht with pretty boys dancing like monkeys.

You are correct in that's how today's generation is like. It's the same way with social media now. Everything is about photos and videos (think Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, etc). We're quickly gravitating away from print media to visual media.

I think singers should be evaluated by their voice and not by their body. Sadly in many singing contests they give priority to someone who is dressed with tops and mini skirts even though they dont sing well than to someone who gets dressed poorly or is a big fat and sing great. I already saw that in competitions and is very unfair. Adele must ignore those comments and keep showing that she has an amazing voice no matter if is fat or thin.

From what I've seen of the modern music industry, image is only ever an issue when there is a lack of talent.

losing weight can change your voice, especially if you don't lose it wisely.

Well, she's got an amazing voice, so I hope any of her weight loss doesn't affect how she sings!

She is one of my favorite singers, and I'm so glad she responded in that way. I'm glad her new album is coming out.

I have never really listened to any of her music, but when her new album was first being promoted, there was a commercial of her sitting in a chair singing. It was the most beautiful thing I've heard in my life! Very powerful commercial, and just based on that few 2-3 minutes of hearing her sing, it made me want to rush out immediately and buy every piece of music she has ever produced!

@Dalane Isn't her new album Adele 25? Or does she have other albums named similar, such as Adele 21? I'm confused! LOL

@moffittjc I think you would like her "21" album. That is the one that made her famous and for good reason. That woman really sings from the heart and makes you feel it too.

There's been a couple artists that have been told to lose weight. Kelly Clarkson being one. I think it's crazy. They are beautiful just the way they are.....

Yeah, I love Kelly Clarkson's music! I don't care that she is slightly overweight! That girl can sing!

She has already lost loads of weight she is half the size she used to be. It is a sad world we live in when you are judged so much by your weight x

I thought she had lost some weight, but since I don't really see photos/images of her that often, I wasn't sure if I was imagining it or if she truly lost weight!

@moffittjc Yes she has lost a few stone I believe and that is after having a baby. i think she looks great now, still curvy but not an unhealthy weight anymore. It's not like she needs more fans anyway her new album has sold 800,000 copies in a week x

It's sad that society is so hung up on size. Her voice is so beautiful that I wouldn't care if she had two heads

I wonder how long her voice will hold up. Apparently, she is a chain smoker, and once said that she would rather die than give up smoking! I would think that at some point it would affect that beautiful voice of hers.
