Time In A Bottle

All this reminiscing about the TV show The Waltons yesterday made me think of that beautiful song by JIM CROCE "Time In A Bottle". This is an expression that I use all the time "Putting time in a bottle". I wish I had been the one who wrote that song. I might get back in trying to write songs during the long winter months. It used to be a hobby of mine. Have you ever written a song? A song that got nowhere?

I've tried more than once to write a good country song, but I don't drink!

I don't drink either, so I guess country songs writing is out for us. We will have to stick to just regular styles.

I loved Jim Croce and we lost him way too soon. Not much time in his bottle I'm afraid.

Did you really write songs? I've never tried myself, but some people have said that some of my poems could be put to music.

I did try my hand at it when I was much younger. I have one that I had music put to it but I never did anything with it though. (decades ago) I did this for fun.

Same here, I much prefer to listen to older songs than the new modern stuff.

I like that song also, makes you think doesn't it? I watched The Homecoming on utube last night, which was a Walton's Christmas special. So heartwarming to see these old favorites, they have so much more depth then the shows that they put out today.

I love that song! It brings back a lot of memories. Yes, I have written songs before when I was 18-19 years old and nothing became of them.

Nice song. Brings back memories. I've written a few songs. None have "escaped" the Bay Area folk community yet.

I always love this song. It would be nice if we could bottle time and keep it forever. I guess that is what pictures and memories are for.

I've never written a song. The few times I've tried the effort turned more into a story. I could probably write a ballad but someone else would have to figure out the music. I love Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle.

I remember this song, but it never really appealed to me.
