myLot Admins: This Is My Christmas Wish!

I've recently written an alphabetical 'About me' in seven instalments. It's puzzling how the number of Likes and Comments differ. I'm in the happy position to have some faithful followers who usually read everything I write. Why then does one post have 12 Likes and 11 Comments and another one only 5 Likes and 5 comments? The answer is that some of my followers didn't notice when I had posted another instalment of the series. (I didn't post them all one after the other in order not to bore my readers). How is that possible? Well, there are the different time zones for one thing. Besides, believe it or not, there are members who aren't constantly on the site. They have an offline life, too. They have a job and/or a family and spend time with them instead of watching the Most Recent list on myLot continuously. What I really would like to have and am writing herewith on my wishlist for myLot is a list which notifies us when one of our followees has written a post. Please, don't tell me that I can find this out myself. I know how to do it. I click on People, then on Discussions and I can see the titles of my followees' latest contributions. Sounds easy. Yet, one always has to think of checking. Then one has to click twice. The next hurdle is that one doesn't always remember at once if one has already read the post. I'm sure that it would be a piece of cake for the myLot techies to create such a list. I know from several comments that I'm not the only one who'd welcome it. I wonder if there's a chance of seeing this modest wish fulfilled?

I agree with you 100%. We used to be notified of our friends postings on the old Bubblews, I was annoyed when they stopped doing that. I'd love it if they did that here, as I'm afraid it's often 'out of sight, out of mind'.

That is true or I get sidetracked and go someplace and when I come back I have forgotten about it. If I had a list it would definitely make it a lot easier.

Thank you!! I can't understand the comments which tell me that such a list wouldn't be a good thing. It's not of vital importance but it would make myLotting more agreeable.

*Not to demotivate or even give you any negative vibes - The posts get served to the followers. It is all up to them to read/ignore/respond/not-to-respond. How can you be so sure that they (your followers) did not get served

@MALUSE I meant, they were notified about your discussions. So: How are you so sure that they (your followers) were not seeing your discussions on the People link. The better way (which assures that I do not miss discussions from people I closely follow) is to hop on to profiles and then the discussions. For all others, I take the risk with going to the People (above on the main navigation).

@thesids As I've said in my post, I know how to get to new posts via People. But a simple list would be more convenient.

How are they 'served'? I don't know what you mean.

Before the new site layout, we actually had notifications for when "followees" (friends at that time) started a new discussion. I didn't even realize it was gone. Either way, on the wish list.

It might help if you use the tags to help people find them. I tag all my tales of village life as 'Tales of the village' so that if people are interested in one, they can easily find others in the series.

Tagging is no ersatz for a simple list with my followees names and the titles of their latest posts.

I seem to find the people I'm looking for without resorting to that two step process. But I've probably missed some.

You haven't been here long have you? Back in the late October I guess it was out 'suggestion' option was done away with. It meant I lost about 1/3 or more of my comments and such. I still miss it. When you wrote and posted something you could sent a msg to those you follow that you had a post up. It really helped a lot in getting the responses. But, I guess, people didn't like the use of it and it was voted out. If I had known that people didn't like it I wouldn't have used it as much. It's gone now and sure hurt my bottom line.

Well you know if you have been good this year then perhaps St. Nicholas will grant you your wish. However if you have been a little bit naughty shall we say then we will all know come the New Year!

You know this is an excellent idea but the way to do this is by email. Not sure I want to get bombed with tons of emails in my inbox. On a few other sites or places I need to be on forums at times the email notifications get me down. I get tired of them all. But here on he site the best way is to find new discussions under people. That is where I normally go to find them.

I would find this useful. I've had no luck trying to find people by name. My 'following' shows a certain percentage then just keeps repeating those names over and over as I scroll down.

I'd like that too. I really don't care or expect every one of my followees to read or comment on everything I write. Lord knows I don't have time or the inclination to read every thing all those I follow post. I tend to read what interests me when I'm here. But I would love a list.

Thanks. But you're on the site at the moment. What if you weren't and only came back tomorrow? Would you find me quickly and easily?

I can appreciate why you would want this feature, but it does seen superfluous to me. I use the very approach that you mention and always begin where I previously left off and work my way back up the page.

Agree. I think a simple search function that allows us to search for discussion threads will solve the problem. If we can search by dates, types (as in discussion threads, comments or responses), and topic, that will make life easier.

Yes, yes, yes @MALUSE . If it was done over at 'you know where', it can be done here. I'm with you on this.
