Pumpkin's feel-good discussion: Good Weekend and Looking Forward

I have decided, for a couple of reasons, that I am going to write a positive post every time I write a rant.
I just thought it was a good idea. I want to appreciate the positives, and Bubblews has shut down and that's where I would usually write my positive posts. I had actually got a post saved there which I intended to finish. I'll have to get around to doing that again. I'll need to find my notes as I can no longer access the draft article.
Well, I came here to be positive. I've just had a good rant about work (well, mostly about one particular place, I thought a whole rant about the entire situation would have been too long). The positive of that is that this week is my last for the year. I only usually work term-time anyway, and I can't imagine that any nursery will be open over Christmas, they aren't usually. So I'll have the two weeks off as my boys do but I've also booked next week off. Mainly because my car is due for MOT so I needed to get that in. I had holiday to use up before January, and I know my car will need work doing so it made sense to take it then while the boys are still at school and I can get the car sorted.
I have had a good weekend. Friday, I took Mum, Dad, and Mini out for a meal. We usually go to the chippy but I didn't want chips. I fancied going out but I didn't want to drive anywhere so we walked up to my Mum and Dad's local and had a lovely meal there. The only complaint I would have is that I had a mixed grill and I'd usually expect some form of vegetable on it (peas and/or mushrooms) but there was no veg, only a tiny bit of salad which had some kind of slimy dressing on it. What we had was nice though. We also had pudding. I had ice-cream with toffee and bubblegum sauce and topped with Smarties.
Yesterday (Saturday), I woke up at 5:30am for no reason. Well, I think I woke up to go to the toilet but I just didn't go back to sleep again. I was then tired by the time I needed to get up and do things! I got a little bit of housework done, had a quick bath, then Mini and I headed off to the next town to meet my sister, Dorypanda. We were doing some Christmas shopping. I'm not a fan of shopping but I quite like buying stuff for other people. I may have spent a tiny bit more than I had planned. I don't think I've got loads for people. I still need a couple of bits as there is one person for whom I haven't got anything yet, and I might get one or two more things for other people. I'm going to get started on wrapping things soon so I can check what I've got. D has told me not to get him too much because he doesn't like me spending too much on him. He says I have other things to spend my money on. Of course, he's right but he knows I like to spoil him. He also said that he'd feel guilty if I get him loads of things and he's only got me one or two things. I think I've got him four or five things but they are only little. I told him that I might just wrap everything up together so it only counts as one present.
I've also asked D if he'll helped me set up and test a couple of the boys' presents before I wrap them. Mini had a N64 for his birthday and he couldn't play it for about a month because it needed a new plug! The difference is, though, that he knew he was getting that for his birthday. Neither of the boys know what they're getting for Christmas. Well, Mini actually chose two of his presents while we were shopping but he's already forgotten what they are!
I am looking forward to Christmas. It will be the first Christmas we've all spent together (me, D, Midi, and Mini). Last year was the first Christmas that D and I were together as we got together in the summer last year. Mini was with us last Christmas but Midi was with his Dad. This year, we'll all be at mine. D might go to his parents' or his sister's at some point though. I asked him if he was going to spend Christmas with us. He said 'of course'. I had assumed that he would but, as I pointed out to him, we'll hopefully be living together by next Christmas so I said I wouldn't mind if he wanted to go to his parents' as I would expect us to all be together once we're living together. So he might split the day, or we might arrange to see them another day. I'll leave that up to him.
Oh, I was telling you about my weekend. After shopping, we came back to have a cup of tea at Dory's. Then Mini and I came home to have something to eat. Then we chilled for a bit before I took Mini to see Santa at a garden centre. It was quite funny with Santa asking whether Mini liked school and if he ate his vegetables, then Mini's looks that he was given, and his totally honest answers. Mini had a Christmas present from Santa. I let him open it later on in the car. He didn't seem to like it. It was like a Meccano type set. Mini doesn't even like Lego though, he's weird like that!
Then what did we do? After we'd visited Santa, we had a wander around the garden centre. That was mainly because Mini was going to his dad's last night and Mini wanted to get there as late as possible (well, he didn't want to go but that's another story).
We had a look at the pets in the garden centre. They mostly have fish. Mini likes fish so we spent a fair bit of time looking at those. They have some birds but Mini doesn't like them so we went to the rodents for a while. Then we went for chips on the way to Mini's dad's. We went to a chippy we hadn't been to before. Mainly because it happened to be on the way. The chips from there were nice. I was disappointed though because I'd asked for cones of chips, expecting to have them in cones but they put them in bags! :P
We did, eventually, get to Mini's dad's. I dropped Mini off and I went to D's. We'd planned on going out. We don't go out often so it's really nice when we do. We'll go out for a drink every so often but this time, we went to the cinema. D had asked me if I wanted to go last week but we'd got Mini and D had got confused because he'd seen Mini the Saturday before to take him to McDonald's as a treat before he went to his dad. So we went yesterday. We went to see Mockingjay Part 2. We'd seen the others at home and we knew we'd both enjoy it. I was really tired but I stayed awake. D said he was surprised! I said I was too. I often fall asleep through films but that's when I'm snuggled on the settee. I think it would be quite rude to sleep through a film at the cinema, especially when someone else has paid for it! When we got back, we watched the end of something about real life pirates which we'd been watching earlier.
Today, we were supposed to go to D's parents' but, about 20 minutes before we would have gone, D decided he didn't want to go. So we're going next week instead. We had planned on going to a book farm next Sunday, and Midi was supposed to be coming with us. So I asked D if we could do both things and he said he'll ask his parents about going over there for half and hour before going to the book farm.
It will be nice for the four of us to see D's parents. They haven't yet met my boys so that will be nice. We keep meaning to arrange it but never seem to have chance, usually because there's always someone already doing something else. It'll be a busy day next Sunday then as Mini has a rehearsal in the afternoon. He's going to be in a show in March. I'll talk more about that nearer the time.
What we actually did this morning was watch Doctor Who (we were going to see his parents after we'd watched it). D said he'd forgotten about Doctor Who last night! Then he said he was going to watch it without me this morning because I didn't want to get out of bed. Of course, he didn't watch it without me because he knows how much trouble he'd be in.
I'm getting a bit tired now so I'll get my lunch ready for tomorrow and head to my bed.
Good night humans and other creatures.

Good night, we must usually be on at different times because I have not been seeing your posts.

We're in different time zones so that's quite likely that we're here at different times. :)
When I'm here, it's usually mid afternoon GMT/BST.
