The Grinches Stealing Chistmas

Yes there are really Grinches stealing Christmas. Why do we have to have crooks who know that December is the time for online shopping and they know different areas of town will soon have lots of packages on their porches.. They just walk up on your porch and walk off with your packages. The question is how do you prevent this from happening. One thing you can do is have the package delivered to your place of employment or the home of a relative or neighbor who is generally home during the day.

The tracking part is a good idea as I also track my packages to be sure someone will be around.

@Rosekitty So we were hunting for Sids share of the brownies, well geez you could have told me that instead of keeping me in the dark about it. In the dark with the brownies is why so many are missing..

I used to be home all the time and even then my packages would often times sit on the step. Not all the delivery people would actually ring my doorbell when they didn't need a signature. Now that I work during the day, I worried about this until I remembered that I could send them to where I work.

Very true sometimes they are supposed to need a signature but they just sit them on the porch and don't even bother ringing the doorbell.

@Marilynda1225 That seems to happen a lot with UPS, luckily our rural driver will come up to the door. We have a nice conversation with him when he delivers something here.

@fawkes62 just today the UPS guy threw my package on the porch and didn't even ring the bell. If I hadn't heard the thud I never would have known my package was here.

It has always been a time for increased crime. Prior to the internet the number of burglaries would always rise during December.

People stealing at Christmas time you would think they would have better sense then to do that. Stealing at any time is wrong but I think it is even a worse crime during the Holiday Season.

@Marcyaz The type of people that do this are not the type to care about anyone else as long as they can benefit.

That is correct . If you know that you won't be home on weekdays , then have it delivered in your place of work . Gifts unattended on the porch are really susceptible to be stolen .

@SIMPLYD So true that most people are at work but at this time of year people are sometimes off work also.

@Marcyaz That's because on weekdays most are at work . So even the neighbors can't see them steal .

People taking things like that could be depriving a child of something they have set their heart on. Wicked people.

You can't always call them and let them know you won't be home as they usually let you know what day they will be there. Like today I have 3 packages to be delivered so someone has to be here.

They follow the delivery vans and as they put them on the doorsteps they wait then steal the parcel. I am at home most days and often take in parcels for near neighbours. I cannot understand these people. It is just wicked to take things like presents away from kids.

They are very mean people who do this type of thing and should be arrested when caught stealing other peoples presents.

I am expecting some of the courier guys soon at my door delivering me goods ordered for you I am a relative of yours (yes, MyLot is a Family, Right!!!) I am generally home during the day (Yes, I am home almost all daytime and all nighttime too) I will also verify and inspect the contents of the package - just in case someone played with the things inside

@Marcyaz That's because thieves know that people are buying gifts this time of year. Some of the gifts are expensive too.

Just the other day they showed this man (on the news) backing his car into someones driveway and loading his truck with the packages on that persons porch. So sad when thieves are so brazen.

Backing a car into someones driveway and loading his vehicle with packages that were left on someones porch. How brazen that is and hopefully a neighbor saw this and reported it to the proper authorities.

I always have packages delivered to my place of employment. Even if I'm not there, I can trust my co-workers to sign for my packages and make sure they get safely delivered to my office for safekeeping.

@Marcyaz I was just talking to the UPS guy a few minutes ago, and he says they are already getting reports of missing packages...packages that have mysteriously disappeared from people's doorsteps and porches. Looks like the Grinches are at it again!

That is so bad. I would have the packages delivered when someone is home so they aren't sitting on the porch.

They tell you when they will be there and to make sure someone is there to receive the packages. You don't have an option generally on when delivery will be.

I don't think they would come out here where I live either as we are out of town and have dogs in the yard when someone comes and they would probably be scared off by the dogs.
