How could I miss a station this size?

When I walked to the Metrolink station earlier to make my usual visit to the city centre, I arrived just as the tram was leaving. This did not bother me because they run every 12 to 15 minutes, but looking at the screen I noticed one was due in 3 minutes.
It was listed as destined for Exchange Square, but I had no idea where that station was. Obviously it was somewhere around the city centre, so I caught the tram anyway. There had been talk of a new station opening soon, but it still caught me by surprise.
The tram terminated alongside the Arndale centre, which I do visit regular. I was amazed to see this new station in such a location and could not understand how I managed not to notice something so obvious over the previous weeks.
They certainly cannot have built it this morning. Maybe they draped Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak over it until now.

Do you keep your head down when you walk?

@Asylum ...Wow! Isn't that funny?! I don't get downtown here much anymore cause I don't drive and don't go much. So last time I was driven down there for some reason, don't recall, there was a huge car thing built and a couple very pretty condos attached to it. I was impressed with what they had done without me.

I think you are just getting old and like the rest of us have tuned out what doesn't register as relevant in the moment. On the up side it is a new station to use from here on in.

@BelleStarr I cannot see any self respecting alien wasting their time with my brain.

@Asylum Well then obviously aliens took possession of your brain and wiped your memory.

Harry Potter...LOL. Living in the country it's hard to picture such a city center.

@dpk262006 It was also almost a shock since I cannot understand why I never noticed it before.

@Asylum - It would have a pleasant surprise for you to see it operational.

I got off the tram there for the first time today too - I knew where it was as I saw it being built, just went to see it in operation as Market Street and Piccadilly Gardens are better for me until they reopen St. Peter's Square properly

@Asylum that is one of the temporary Christmas Markets - it'll disappear after the last weekend before Christmas

New building pop up all the time and many times we don't even notice them until they have been there for awhile. Looks like you weren't paying attention here and it popped up before your eyes today. Well to the invisible train station and it's brand new location.

I like the cloak idea, but it is probably the "invisible gorilla" at work. We do not see what we do not expect.

Now you have me imaging invisible gorillas constructing the station so that the public will not be distracted.
The Arndale Centre is a large shopping mall that I visit several times a week. I tend to use the entrances and exits on 3 different sides, so they chose to situate this on the one other side.

@Asylum Our shopping mall is not so large, anything they do is visible to all.
