How to Write an “Eye Magnet” Title for MyLot

As we all know the title is one of the first things anyone sees. This title has to say so much in just a few words. When a title catches the eye of a person it is like a magnet. It draws them in and keeps them focused.
Furthermore, titles need to tell the person what your article is about. Give them an idea if they want to read it or not. One great way to make a title that attracts a person’s attention is to use words that stand out from the rest.
For example a title that uses the word “Feeble”. You could use “My Feeble Attempt”– this says something to the person and attracts their attention.
Another great word that would attract the attention of others might be “Lunatic”. You could start off with “Wow this Lunatic….. “
Now here is the best part. Should you write your title first or last? Now, that depends on you and what you do. At times I think of my title first when I have a subject in mind. After writing my paper I decide if the title needs changing or if it’s fine the way it is. I have changed around my titles many times before submitting them to the site.
So the next time you sit down to write a discussion consider your title and how it will attract others to your discussion. Here are some fantastic words that might help you to draw attention to your discussion:
Vaporize, vulnerable, volatile, amazing, breathtaking, excited, eye-opening, jubilant, miracle, sensational, stunning, and uplifting.
How many more words can you think of that would make your title stand out and become an eye magnet?
Hint – keep your titles short and to the point. Long titles don’t do as well as shorter one. Make them catchy, attractive, and draw your readers in. Give them a reason to read what you’ve written. The title will either make or break your discussion. This is true with any thing you write. Take a look at headlines in a newspaper and how they snap. They draw you in. So now get creative and start crafting some great titles for your discussions.

No not really. It popped into my head and I thought it was a good one that attracted a lot of attention. Now imagine a person on the road had dome something down right stupid. You would want to say I saw this stupid thing. A better way to put this would Be Man this lunatic just did the most amazing thing. OK now how can a lunatic do something amazing. Good question read on. I guess that was my mood behind this word. but you see it did attract your attention because you just picked this word out from all the other ones I added here.

Titles? What titles?
A title such as 'I am feeling miserable' What makes you think this is an eye catcher?

@poehere Sorry. It has nothing to do with titles. I have already said this and that is you need a bunch of dedicated followers to get to your posts. Very rarely will a post catch the eye of the community if your followers are sleeping. I have well over 500 followers but they are not dedicated. There is that time zone factor too that plays a huge role in discussions being noticed by your followers - the only way they can do it is by going through the entire explore and people category. These categories show a day's action and that day differs from time zone to time zone.

@allknowing Yah right. But anyhow I need to run now. I have to pack and get a case off to the airport before my flight tonight. Emergency in the Marquesas and I am off tonight and don't know when I'll be back.

Avatars are also eye catching. I use a picture of myself as it's more "welcoming" so to speak.
As for titles, I think I do a pretty good job of making them interesting.

You are so right about avatars. Someone once wrote about avatars and how they would rather interact with a person who had one as to a person who didn't have one. I just decided to focus on titles and see if it would help some people. I noticed some excellent posts but the titles were lame. I know if the titles said more or attracted moe people it would of taken off.

Absolutely, if the title is 2 lines long and then discussion another 2 lines. it's just very depressing to read..

Thank you so much. I hope that this will help a few people out. I have found some wonderful articles that the title did not do them justice. I read them and they were fantastic. I hope that a few people will find this and try to craft new eye catching titles. This will help them so much.

Titles are important. They are the first thing that people see, and if we manage to make people interested or curious they will read the rest of the discussion. Your timing and your connections are also important. Some members use titles that can be interpreted in more than one way, and when you read the responses it is easy to spot the members who misunderstood the discussion because they only read the title

Yes I have seen this one too. Some people just go through and write a response just to get another person to interact with them. It does make me laugh too.

good advice - some of my titles are straight forward - Diary pages just say diary and the day's date. Film reviews are called Film Review - insert title of movie, etc. Others may be more imaginative and created after the body of text itself

@poehere undoubtedly true - Had I written it, Jaws would have been called 'Great big shark that kills loads of people.'

This will get me thinking again about titles, although I do not have the knack for it, unlike some who produce brilliant titles. To do this I think is something of a gift. But I can work on it...

If you really think about it Titles aren't really that hard. You can write one first and then change it later on when you have finished your discussion. Just keep them short and snappy and I think anyone or everyone can write a good title.

I think titles are very important, and I do consider them carefully both in what I write and in what I read. If a discussion's title doesn't indicate that the content will be interesting, I don't read it.

That is why I've written this. One reason is I have found a lot of very interesting discussions on here that the title doesn't give you a good idea what it's about. I hope that this will help others to make better titles.

This is so true even though I usually don't have that eye catching title. The hardest thing for me is what to write about. Once I have that figured out I can usually write something anyway lol.

I don't either but I try to make them eye catching. I think a lot of it has to do with subject too. Questions, excitement, anticipation are all good ways to make an eye magnet title that will catch the eyes of people.
