My husband is jerky-ing his meat again

United States

The man is obsessed with his meat, seriously! He thinks nothing of preparing it, seasoning it and throwing it in the smoker...jerking his meat around is commonplace. Can you smell his meat cooking? A few days ago he made Jerky and the seasonings he used for that batch really made my stomach turn. There are smells I just can't tolerate and that Jerky seasoning was one of them. That Jerky was a gift, he made it for his son and it is on its way up north as I type this. Today he is making a different kind of Jerky for himself and thankful it's not the stinky kind. He and the dog are outside guarding the smoker! I guess Jerky is to him what chocolate is to me....

@Drosophila Why is it bad for your diet? You can make chicken or turkey jerky.

That could very well be. I remember once someone made deer salami and jerky. They were so meaty and delicious. That is the only time I have really enjoyed either one.

@celticeagle I'm sure to someone who loves venison (my husband) there is a difference, but I don't like venison at all. I tried to like it but I lied to him that I did!

Hubby loves Jerky seasonings, I do not, especially the smell. I am glad the does not eat meat too many times a month.

@AbbyGreenhill to each his own. I bet to jerky fans, his meat is good. One could make some funny tongue in cheek responses, but I think I'll refrain from now. You sure come up with some clever titles sometimes.

My oldest son love jerky. Me not so much. And it seems to give him terrible gas. I will get it for him sometimes but make him go away from me when he's been eating it lol.
