Please Take a Seat While You Wait.

Do you often "take a seat" while waiting for your doctor, in waiting rooms for lab work, or at your pharmacy? Is the seat part of the chair fabric covered cushioning? Do you make note of the cleanliness of this seat before you sit? I usually drop off my refills and say I'll be back the next day to pick them up. After all, it would be unfair of me to make them fill 5 or 6 prescriptions while I wait. Yesterday I only had 2 so I waited. They have four fabric covered seats for "waiters". I used to have atleast one clean enough to feel comfortable sitting in. They were digusting. I stood. After getting my meds I saw a woman that I usually see stocking and checking shelves. She is also a manager, so I knew she was the one I could talk to. I excused myself and told her about the chairs. She walked straight to them with me following. I pointed out, though it wasn't needed, the big greasy-looking stain in the middle of one. The others were covered with brown patches some light, some dark, and some smeared and dry. She tilted the seats toward her and we saw a thick layer of dust on the back edge of the seat itself. She said that they would replace them. I thanked her for her attention and explained my concern was one for peoples health. There is no way of knowing what all those stains are from. She thanked me for alerting her to the problem. She then walked straight over to the seats at the "minute clinic" to check them. I'll be going back for meds in a couple of weeks, and even if I don't wait, I will go see if there are new chairs. How do you feel about the chairs in the waiting areas you sit in? Do you even notice?

I never wait at the pharmacy, I call in my order, then pick it up. I have never noticed the chairs at the doctors office looking dirty. I'm more worried about being around the other people there.

I do not see the doctors often for myself. Where I have taken my sister have been clean. I have a new doctor, who has new offices, which have new seats. Let us know if the situation improves when you go back.

If you have Ques , a token system is good to avoid that. Here majority of the hospitals and pharmacy are neat and clean.

I have to admit I have never noticed. I think the chairs at the doctor's office are vinyl or something wipe-able at least.

I often go to one hospital in my city to pick up my wife who works there. This hospital set up many chairs in the check-in lobby and corridors about 5 or 6 year ago. Those chairs are made of metal and painted very well which makes them easy to clean and they are cleaned everyday indeed. I used to sit on one of them when waiting for my wife. Well, now several years past, those chairs are old and some of the paint peels off, and they seem to be dirtier than years before though they are still cleaned everyday. I am not as willing to sit on them as before and my wife has told me not to sit on the chairs.
