The Oldest Bridge In Ontario

I ran across this photo this morning looking for something else. Its a beautiful stone bridge. Where was it taken? I couldn't remember.
Since I travel a lot in New York State and in Ontario, Canada I had to do some research.
I put the photo into the editing program and looked up the date it was taken. I took this photo August 15, 2010.
That means it was NOT built by the CCC; The Civilian Conservation Corps between 1933 to 1942. New York state is full of this stone work that was done to keep people working during the depression. The government used the labour of people out of work to improve and build state and national parks in the USA. It was part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal in 1933.
That August date puts me in Ontario because the weekend around the 15th is always the Women's Festival in Kingston, Ontario It is a huge and very successful art and craft show. I visit my daughter who helps me with the show and I stay for a a nice visit and we see the sights.
This photo was taken in Lyndhurst, Ontario. It is a small town near my daughter place. That bridge is the oldest bridge in Ontario. It was built in 1856-57. The whole bridge had three arches but I wanted and focused on only one of the three arches.
Can you even imagine how long and how difficult it was to build that bridge in 1856.
I love playing with my camera and enjoy using my photos in posts I write for myLot. Often a photo gives me the idea of what to write.
What gives you ideas of topics to use in posts here?

It is good that you like to take photos and use them here. I find topics for posts everywhere. Looking out the window, watching the news, trending search topics, stuff my family does, community activities, thoughts I have, and TV shows. I try to keep a tablet and pen near me at all times or I write up something on a notepad on here. So many opportunities.

@PainsOnSlate ...Yes, as long as we don't double think our ways out of using some ideas we get. I have heard some on here say that happens.

@celticeagle The only thing that stops me sometimes is the thought "will people like this or hate it" . Occasionally I can be writing and think this is not going to be accepted by the majority so I can it. Probably not necessary to toss but I do when I think some may be offended. I also try to stay out of politics for the same reason.

I do take notes too as i see things in the news, the newspaper, and things on the radio and TV. At that now defunct place I often wrote about what was happening in my area of the world when I read really interesting articles in the paper, haven't done that here yet but I will try. Opportunities are everywhere, life is good.

It was sort of rebuilt a few years ago but it is still the original stones and look. I love it too.

I often think of that when I am in Europe and some of the bridges are hundred and hundreds of years old.

I bet that was really a sight to see, the whole bridge. It's like the Hoover Dam in Nevada. It was man made and it took about 5 years to make and over 100 lives were lost. I need to do a post about it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Looking forward to your story. This bridge is much smaller than the Hoover Dam but it is a beautiful sight.

There is nothing about that photo I don't like. The angle is incredible. Most of my ideas form when I sit quietly a moment and stare at the screen.

When I got my first digital camera I was so surprised at the info that is left on the photo. I imagine in the future or maybe its available already for a GPS so it tells you where you were when you take it. Once I knew it was Ontario I thought of the beautiful bridges I know of and looked this one up and it was the right one. Thank you for your kind comment.

I love stone bridges and was always taking photos of them. Photos often give me ideas for posts. In Ireland in the Burren, there are stone walls which go for miles over great sheets of stone and disappear over the hill. They were built during the depression too. They serve no useful purpose but kept people doing something for their welfare money.

In the states they worked on parks and the parks here are awesome. Even the small campground we camp at every year is full of stone work by Roosevelt's crews and the New Deal. Just love seeing it.

surely the image is your topic for your discussion, and I like the image with the still waters running under the brick bridge.
What my experiences are, are my topics I want to share and make discussions about

What a lovely looking bridge, I don't know why but I really like bridges (I am sure that sounds strange) I just find them fascinating especially old ones x
