It is quiet here

My guests have moved on to their next destination. No more children playing pretend drums and driving cars and singing random, spontaneous Christmas Carols. No more diapers, no more quarrels and no more sweet hugs. I am wandering around, stripping beds, washing towels and dishes. No more requests to take a walk or go to a park. I always said " the cleaning can wait until you are gone" and oh, the silence is deafening.

It is nice not to have a never ending stream of dishes, but it is also sad, as I love to feed people.

Yes, the radio and music provides good companionship. Their energy has benefitted me as well.

It can take a while to readjust after visitors have vacated.

I do not have guests often. It is both exhausting and exhilarating.

When guests have left our home in the past it has made me sad, and busy at the same time! The quiet seems to all of a sudden be a problem like it never had before.

You have hit the nail on the head. I was used to it being pretty quiet here, and then got accustomed to the busy activity and noise. Hubby and I will enjoy a long evening together tomorrow.

I hope you're feeding on the memories. It can be very quiet when guests leave.

It's always easier to be the one who left then be the one who's left behind. I recall having my annoying cousins for a long visit at my place and wishing they went home. But when they went home I feel so sick and lonely.

It was just for three nights. Basically their needs are simple, but with four under ten years old it can be exhausting. I know why my daughter is tired.

Sometimes the silence is deafening.... and at others...it's golden.... just remember the fun you've had over the last few days as you do the cleaning and tidying.... and look forward to their next visit.....

I always have that mixed emotions whenever guest are going :) Its a feeling of relief having the same peaceful daily routine back again, but at the same time wishing they would come back soon again.

Peace is good, but family is more precious than anything. I know you miss them all already.
