Question and Answers: Money – Scams – Legitimate

Since the close of BB I have seen a few posts popping up asking about different sites and if they are legitimate or a scam. A few months back I was contacted by a person to help them research a book they are writing. The book is about exposing all the sites and telling people the truth. The real, down to earth facts about the different sites people talk about on-line.
In my research I’ve had to dig deep into some of these sites to see the hidden truth about them. Here I have seen different websites claiming they have reviewed these sites to help people. One interesting fact I did discover is that some of the review sites give you false hopes and rating.
A few sites that rate websites for scams you’ll always find a high rating for each site you research on. What was interesting is the fact that they have zero information on the site and there is a red or orange warning associated with these sites. However, the site has gained a 92% to 100% rating from these people.
If you’re interested in joining a new site to make money please use either Indeed.com or Glassdoor.com to check on their reviews. So far I have found out these two sites will give you honest reviews. Furthermore, there are some forums on-line dedicated to finding work, working on different sites, and making money. Please join a few of them. Here you will have a chance to read what people have experienced. Warning if you see a lot of negative experiences and only one or two positive experiences then stay away from the site.
Keep in mind if it looks too good to be true- then it’s too good to be true. Where people actually earn money online is as a freelancer. However, you will compete with thousands of other writers and if you have poor grammar or writing skills your articles will always get rejected.
One last thing – check to see the value of the site you want to join. See how much the site is worth and their rankings. This will help you to decide how legitimate the site is and if they will actually pay you for your time and efforts.

Excellent and very good advice instead of just taking chances. A little research goes a long way. I was slightly confused when going to glass door though. I found the company review search page but thought it might be for mainly larger companies that hire people which is a good avenue to head towards, but might not apply to smaller online sites that people access for pocket money?

@poehere the best is still the insider check, get hold of someone who's been there for a bit and see what they think. :)

I always try to look for reviews for any site i write for, however, it didn't work for many of them and I still got scammed. At this point I think I have enough sites and other paid writing gigs with established sites so I wouldn't be looking for anymore in the near future. Thanks for the info I will keep it in mind if I get the urge to write for a different site

You're welcome. I just have seen a lot of people lately write about so many different places and seems like they hadn't done a lot of research on them. I just wanted to let them know where they could find some helpful information and not just take the word of bloggers who want to sign them up as an affiliate to make money off of them.

Thank you for sharing this. I always try to search for reviews first, but sometimes when a site is too new to tell whether it's legit or not, then I'll just try it myself. Of course, not to invest any money in the site.
At the moment, I guess I'll just stay with mylot, as I don't have much time to spend on other sites now.

Yes you are so right. But now a lot of people are looking for new places and so they need some help in finding the good one and not wasting time on the bad ones.

Please check out the two sites I gave you for reviews. You can search and see what you can find. I understand Indeed is a job searching site but if you look deeper you will see there is a review part to this site. Many people will write stuff about sites and it will be posted here for people to find and read.

You're welcome. I saw a post today asking about a money making site. I checked on this and it wasn't what they thought. I explained to them this is a site that tells you were you can make money. The post was directing the person to another site. I explained how to check this out. After the response back to me was sort of not what I had expected. After this I decided to tell people what to do. This can save them a lot of time and lost money here.

Yes you are right. I have been researching a lot of this stuff lately and basically what I have found out is that there are many sites who use the same articles and just keep them rolling around. The only difference in all of this is that they have added their own affiliate link to the post so people sign up through them.
