My wife screams at me, and it's got to stop!

Does your spouse scream at you? My wife screams at me, and I'm not going to take it anymore!
Actually, it's not that bad. When my wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, I'm usually here in my home office on the computer. When the food is ready, she lets out a yell to invite me to come and get it.
That's probably not good for her throat, and it's certainly not the most dignified procedure. So, as a concerned husband, I've taken steps to eliminate the need for screams. In other words, I just ordered an intercom system from Amazon.
If the intercom works as advertised, the screaming will be over at our house. If not, I'll probably be screaming at Amazon.

I know how that goes because my husband only hears what he wants to hear.

Maybe some savvy inventor will come up with some kind of visual intercom for people with hearing issues.

@RonElFran You could always try a well-aimed cushion or tea-towel.

Yes, you are a concerned husband and I really think either screaming or shouting is not good for the throat. I usually do not do that, I'd always walk upstairs to tell my husband or my children when the meal is ready.
There's one situation I'd shout which is when I am extremely angry with my children, and I can imagine myself becoming a monster mom, and after that my throat gets painful, which is certainly not good for me at all. So, I always try not to shout.
If the intercom works well, I guess you won't need to hear the screaming anymore, but it'll more be a sweet calling.

@RonElFran Yes, that's why I have been learning not to do so.

The problem with screaming at your children is that they quickly become very proficient at tuning it out.

No, a little screaming doesn't diminish my apetite one bit.

@NewFangled In our case it's just what we call a spare bedroom which has been converted to a 'home office'. It has two desks with our computers, a filing cabinet and some book shelves. We're retired so it isn't the same as a business office, just a place to put our computers, printer, etc.

@NewFangled Some people work from home in which case they might set up an office in a spare room or convert part of the garage or whatever.

My office is far enough away from the kitchen that if I happen to have to TV on or music playing, I don't even hear the scream. This has unfortunately resulted in some cold food.

My husband was in a band when he was younger and today he has trouble hearing so I have to yell.

I worry about many of the young people today. They have music playing on headphones but so loudly that you can hear it yourself.

I used to play in a band when I was in college, but managed to get through it with my hearing intact.

It's nice of you.
My wife sometimes yells, not at me, at my daughter when she's not listening to her mother. I'd feel awful in such time and tell her not to yell at children, but she wouldn't listen to me (just like our daughter wouldn't listen to her).

When someone refuses to listen, even screaming doesn't help!
