Soup, It's What's For Dinner

December 28, 2015 8:46pm CST
Dinner was AMAZING. FYI, I wasn't expecting AMAZING. I was expecting decent comfort food. I made some creamy turkey vegetable soup from my leftover Christmas turkey (which was quite tasty.) The soup was very basic: turkey, wine, broth, corn, carrots, peas, green beans, basil, bay leaf, salt, pepper, and half and half. Seriously, it was a fabulous soup. Perhaps it's the snowy cold weather outside. I don't know. But Yum. YUM!

That does sound delicious, and with the winds blowing and the freezing rain coming down, I'm sure that it warmed everyone up. We miss the leftover meals that I'd create from leftovers, but when you go out for Christmas to someone else's house, they have the leftovers not you.

@jillybean1222 We don't get together with my side, and his side doled out the little bit of leftovers to their kids, and our son who had us in didn't have a lot of left overs.

i just added some half and half & i actually had one packet of country gravy/peppered flavored that i put in it. the combo of the two made it the perfect creamy texture

I made my turkey in a crockpot this year--delicious!! Plus the meat gets so tender a lot fell off into the bed of veggies I put it on--after taking the turkey out and leaving the bones in the pot--real;ly great soup!

That sounds good. I was not happy with my turkey soup because it was turkey noodle in the slow cooker...and the noodles dissolved making a paste I didn't like. I mean it tasted OK...but I wasn't really happy with it..I don't think I am going to eat the rest.

I tossed the carcass and remaining turkey meat into my Dutch oven to boil all day. Now I have to take out the bones and add the vegetables to the pot and simmer it a while longer. I haven't had creamed turkey soup in quite a while. Now you've got me thinking I should make at least half of the soup into creamed turkey.

That sounds incredible. We have had cold rainy weather all month, with 12+ inches of rain, so soup has been a staple.
