It's considered the first day of our homeschool today, though we started in August for awhile, and stopped for a few months. I won't say it's perfectly follow what I have planned, I didn't expect that as well. I am happily to allow ourselves to get into the rhythm slowly. * Circle Time - We had our circle time today. Though I didn't remember all the lyrics of the songs, the children enjoyed the circle time. * Main Lesson - I introduced the form drawing of the week with the story I made up. My son was always happy to listen to stories. - The lesson for today is to teach the number: 5 We talked about the things we can think of about 5, and I was quite amazed my son can think of quite a few. 5 fingers, 5 toes, 5 main features on our face (2 eyes, 2 nostrils, 1 mouth), 5 protrusions from our body (2 legs, 2 arms, 1 head), 5 physical senses, 5 directions (including the center), 5-pointed star, pentagon, etc. There are actually more examples, but I think I will leave them for later. We also wrote down some 5-letter words. I plan to play a game with those words later. * Knitting Lesson - We have the main lesson in the morning, and afternoon lesson will be other activity. Monday will be knitting lesson. So, this is the first time I officially taught my son how to knit, with a story and the knitting verse. I found a simple melody that comes with the verse too, and I practiced it with my pentatonic flute. "Under the fence, we catch a sheep, back we come and off we leap." These are the lessons for today. Just now when my husband came home from work, my son told him what he has learned today. He even wrote them down one by one to tell my husband. Again, I am quite amazed he remembers it. I think it'll be good for my husband to ask him what he's learned everyday, it's a time for him to revise as well. There are more I need to do. But, I think it's a good start. Most importantly, I am glad my children were happy. My little girl was "attending the class" as well, she was with us all the time. Image: This is for my son's first knitting lesson. It's actually I cast on for him. We shall see when he will finish his first knitting project. It seems like he has not ready for knitting yet.

I think knitting will be pretty hard for him at his young age. It sounds like you had a great day.

Yes, and I am glad the children enjoyed the day. It's a recommended guide by Waldorf Education which is to learn knitting in grade 1. Of course, I will also wait until he is ready. Every child is different.

@kaka135 That is interesting. I did learn knitting or crochet very young too; along with my older brother.

Sounds like a very good start. Kids are amazing in their memories. I couldn't hold a candle to them. Hope the rest of the year goes as well.

Home schooling seems to be more and more popular. I don't think this was thought about back int he old days when I went to school

I am not sure since when this has become quite popular. I have read there are many homeschooling families in United States. Those homeschooling groups that I joined have the most members from United States as well.

I am glad that your day went well. Things do not always go as planned but as long as we are flexible, it all works out. Good luck with the rest of the year. I am getting things together this week and we will begin again next week. We are still on vacation this week so I can do some planning.

Thanks. Yes, I guess we need to learn to let go, as parents or homeschoolers. Enjoy your vacation and good luck in your homeschooling journey as well.

Glad you day went so well. It sounds like you are highly organised. When I teach beginners to crochet I always do the first row or two which are the hardest to manage when you're learning.

Thanks. There are actually much more I haven't really plan properly, but I am taking steps by steps slowly. I wish to plan it well, so it'll be easier for me for the next child(ren) in future. Also, I can share my planning with my homeschooling friends as well.
