Change in weather and change in blooming times of plants.

Usually my poinsettias bloom in November without me having to do much to make them force bloom. However, since I wasn't in the best of health during these months I couldn't do much. This year my poinsettias , Christmas cactus and my chrysanthemums didn't really bloom too well. Just a few flowers here and there.. Only one of my 18 poinsettias bloomed .. That too because I took it indoors and left it there. I love the spectacular show that my Christmas cactus put on each year each year.. But was so sad to see just leaves on them this time around. I guess the plants are really confused with all this change in weather. We had a really warm Christmas.. In fact we had to turn the fans on during the day. Right now its only the veggies in my garden that are doing well. Have you noticed changes in your plant flowering patterns of late?

our jackfruit tree has a lot of fruits but they're small, wrinkled and dark.

@hereandthere Amazingly jackfruits are not in season until march / April here.. We already ate a couple of fruits from mom in law's trees this year.. the warm weather is to blame.

I guess in our part of Australia the weather has been quite as different from usual as seems the case in UK and America.

@sofssu We're not gardeners so most of our garden are native plants who cope with the conditions. My melons are doing well.

I know one year my moms Christmas cactus became an Easter cactus so I guess it may bloom later.

I don't have any outdoor plants so I can't really say. I am impatiently waiting for the day we can move into a house.

@simone10 atually most of my plants were grown in the apartment we lived in for 15 years before we moved in here. I used my window sills and all spaces where there was natural light to grow my plants on walls and railings in pots for that purpose.

@sofssu We have a lot of natural light but nothing to put the plants on. We may be moving soon so hopefully that will change.

@boiboing I have seen roses in bloom already on the news... In the middle of winter. Plants could be getting really confused I guess.

The rainy days before Christmas helped my plants to prosper and lately the weather has been fine so my garden is practically blooming.

@amnabas Cucumbers, tomatoes, spinach , beans (a few varieties and gourds about ten varieties. They seem to be flourishing at the moment. While none of my winter veggies brussel sprouts, broccoli and lettuce hasn't one too well.

No, it is winter time here, sofs! I don't have anything that blooms that can also survive the Missouri winters.
