Withdrawals are Bad.

Good morning everyone. Not sure how "Good" it is for me, but either way! I hope yours is! I'm dealing with withdrawals, mind zaps, all that good stuff the past couple of days. Especially dizziness and restless nights. I recently was on medication for depression and anxiety, and I told my doctor they weren't working. (Effexor) So she basically agreed I shouldn't take them. So I haven't been. My bottle ran out, and now the fun withdrawal effects are coming in. I feel horrible. Like I want to sleep constantly but can't. Anyone know a cure to save me right now? Who's been through withdrawals before from Anti-Depressant medications? Blah!

Effexor is the worst antidepressant I've ever encountered as far as the withdrawal! I've tried twice to get off it and had to go back on both times. Did you taper down or just suddenly stop? The doctor never should've let you suddenly stop it. Some people have had luck with switching to a different antidepressant and then tapering off that one, instead of going right off the Effexor.

@Lolaze I have also taken Effexor. I really didn't like it, and it made me physically ill. After a while I quit Effexor and switched to other antidepressants.

I don't know how I managed but I got my last prescription from her and that was it. I had to just 'stop'. As of right now, I still haven't gone back to them, and I'm actually not on any kind of medication right now. I feel a bit spacey a lot. Tired often. And headaches. But the dizziness has pretty much gone away. And nausea.

@Porcospino Yeah, i'm not taking effexor again. I should maybe try the all natural way!

She should have tapered you off. Stopping anti depressants cold turkey lowers the seizure thresh hold among other things, but what's done is done. Drink plenty of water, eat fresh healthy foods. Take a multi vitamin. If the sun is shining get outside. It is a matter of time, that is for sure.

She didn't, she just ordered me my last bottle of pills and said that was it basically. So when I was done, I was done. Seizures? Really?! That's scary. Well lately I've been feeling better so I think it's pretty much out of my system. Only troubles now is my anxiety seems worse out in public and my sleep has been pretty terrible. I'm always tired too. Thanks for advice.

I have taken antidepressants for years, but I stopped in November 2015. I experienced withdrawal symptoms for a while. I was feeling dizzy and cold all the time, and I was really tired. I had to cancel some activities and rest a lot. I tried to focus on other things like reading, but those weeks definitely weren't a nice experience.

It is really bad since your body is used to it. You can just find an alternative to get over th withdrawal.

Thankfully the withdrawals are pretty much gone now. Probably didn't take so long because I wasn't on the medication too long.

I don't know how to advise you. You may need to see your Doctor.

No, been feeling to dizzy to do much of anything. When I stand it's kind of like the room spins.
