After reading about the tornado victims in Texas a Fort Worth Millionaire decided to let some people who became homeless live in two of his properties that were up for sale. The two mansions can fit about 4 familes between them and the tenants would have to pay $1 a month. The families can stay in the homes for a period of 3 months but must pass a background check, verify their home was destroyed by the tornado last month and have a credit score of 700 or higher. The millionaire told NBC that he's experienced his own challenges, which has made giving back all the more meaningful. In his lifetime he lost his father at a young age and has been homeless himself. The first family a single mother Catherine and her daughter, Amber, who is a quadriplegic moved into one of the mansions last week.

Three months give these people a cushion. As a former landlord, I understand his wanting a background check on the potential tenants.

@Morleyhunt Three months should be a big help to those people, of course he doesn't want his property to become tore up as it is up for sale and he doesn't want just anyone in there.

This is a very heartwarming story. That man will be blessed even more for his generosity. Amazing how some people are so helpful to the homeless..and him having experienced it, knows first hand the suffering.

It is a really good story and him having been homeless in the past himself he knows what it is like. I commend him for helping these people who lost everything in that tornado.

A lovely story and such a change to read of someone willing to share so much with others. We cannot all be so generous can we can all work on being more big hearted towards those in need.

I like that he is helping them, but I am thinking maybe the ones with the low credit score struggle and might need help too. I still think that is nice of him, and just thinking they may need a bit more time in the home, because they may not have no where to move in 3 months.

@CookieMonster46 I am sure he wants to make sure his property is taken care of after all he did not Have to let anyone live there and in a three month time frame they should be able to find some place to move to.

@CookieMonster46 I would think that the insurance companies would take some time to sort out all the people who lost their homes so it would take time for them to find something else but in the three months time they are given in the mansion they could find an apartment to live in untill they rebuild or buy something else.

@Marcyaz I am just thinking if they lost their homes, they may not have money yet to build, or get into a new home, most people that lose in a hurricane, tornado, suffer for a long time. yes very nice he opened his home up to people , I like to think If i were blessed to be i that position, I would be doing good all the time.
