When the Brakes on Your Car Fail, You Go Home and Bake Cookies

I made it to my first client today, even though the roads were a bit icy. Once the tasks were completed I left to go grab some lunch and take a break. I had 2 hours before I needed to see the next client. When I applied the brakes I heard a grinding sound. This concerned me because I have to drive this vehicle from client to client. If it breaks down, I am stranded. I called the office to let them know I had brake problems and needed to take the afternoon off. Once home, I made lunch and spoke to the hubby on his lunch break and let him know that there was a problem with the brakes. He said he would look at them when he got home. Now with all this time on my hands I decided to bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies. It is a reward for the hubby for coming home and working on my car. So, he came home, got the car, drives it and calls me to let me know that he didn't hear anything. Um, okay. So all is not lost. I did get to bake cookies.

Glad you got to bake some cookies. But if there was a grinding noise, it would seem that the pads, or whatever they're called, are gone on at least one wheel.

That was my assumption as well. Hubby said he couldn't hear any grinding though. I told him I wasn't hearing things.

@ElusiveButterfly I'm trying to form an image in my mind of what would make one brake grind for awhile and then stop. I'm drawing a blank.

Hmm okay. Cookies sound wonderful Elusive. Especially chocolate chips. I would not drive the car with the grinding sound, but that is just me. What do I know lolz

It worried me enough not to drive the car. I have had brakes fail before and it was when I was going downhill.

@TiarasOceanView I'll keep safe rather than push it. I am not one to take risks.

You're a home health aide or caregiver? I remember those days. Maybe 20 years ago I thought my car's brakes had failed and there was a school bus headed my way. Nightmare in the afternoon!

Hubby took the vehicle to the shop where he drives wrecker. It would be great not to have to replace anything.

Maybe the brakes were just cold or icy from the weather. Glad it turned out to be nothing and you got chocolate chip cookies to enjoy

The right brake was worn down considerably. Hubby replaced both front brakes.
