Grumbles… When people ask for help why don’t they follow it up?

Today seems to be my day for grumbling about things, lots of little things are annoying me! A few days ago a friend emailed me and her other ‘Mum friends’ asking if any of us still had baby stuff which we were willing to sell or give away as a colleague of hers was expecting a baby and having a tough time so she wanted to help her get things sorted and leave her less to worry about. I replied that we have got rid of all our things already but suggested a couple of good places to look for baby things for sale or to be given away. I also mentioned that I had just seen a nice Moses basket and a baby bouncer in the display at a charity shop and offered to buy them for her if she was interested. She had urgently asked for help and even though I replied straight away and even offered to go out of my way to buy things on her behalf she didn’t even reply, not even a ‘thanks but no thanks’. I know she’s busy, as am I, but if she managed to send out the first begging message than the simple courtesy of a reply would be nice. All rights reserved. © Text copyright Fleur 2016.

It is a bit rude, especially as you've offered to go out of your way. Maybe she needed to confirm that particular items are still needed or not being offered twice, or even thrice. Still, a quick message saying so would have been nice. :)

Exactly, it would only take a few seconds to say 'I'll check and get back to you'

She'll probably have a go at you for not buying the stuff because you should have just known that she would want you to!!!

Yes I wonder about that; we will see her on Sat so I hope she doesn't turn up expecting me to have got a whole package ready for her!

Oh yes I know that game. It is most rude to not reply. That is why I am more cautious now. Sorry, hope she replies soon to you.

OH blimey you will probably learn the hard way that sometimes you can not help some people. The more you do the more they will expect!

She has been rude, at least a short message to thank you would have been enough. I would also feel offended.

I would think that some people just send a "general message" to a few people - just changing names and a few things along the way . . . and then go with the one answer that suits them most. I do not even respond to general messages, but if she is serious about the baby stuff, then she should have gotten back to you asap. Busy or Not!

I would be upset about being treated this way too. I still think good manners are important.
