Hello Syndrome

Waking up to Adele’s Hello song did no good to me. It stuck to me the whole day I found myself humming and singing it again and again. On the subway. In the office. While having lunch. While having class. While in the toilet. LSS is what urban dictionary calls it. Or Last Song Syndrome. No matter how hard I tried to sing a new song, I just ended up singing the same Adele lines a hundred times over. “Hello.. It’s me.. I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet……” So when everyone was busy doing their task in the office, I unknowingly sang the song again but this time in a louder than usual voice. “Hello..” However before I could finish my repertoire, co-worker butted in confidently singing “…is it me you’re looking fooooor???” Right. Talking about a different song and a different generation altogether.

No problem if you keep humming Hello but the problem is someone out of tune hums the song with you.

Don't worry , you are not alone . I always have the LSS because in the morning the jeepney i ride would be playing some of my favorite songs . I would end up humming it or repeating the adlib at the office .

Someone mentioned an old song from decades back 'Bye Bye Baby' but the lyrics were different from the one I was thinking of too. Sometimes I get a song in my head that I don't even like but it stays there all day.

I really like that song but you are right it sure does get stuck in your head. Even though my 3 year old nephew doesn't understand what the lyrics are about the mournful sound of it makes him cry when hears it on the radio.
