Skype with my grandbaby

I just had a nice time talking to and seeing my daughter and baby in their new house. (Her husband was putting Ikea furniture together.) The baby just had her well-baby check and is fine and healthy. She is sitting on her own and I got to see her doing it. This makes me thankful for computers! Do you Skype or otherwise use video connections to talk with your loved ones?

That is so great that you were able to do this. I sometimes Skype with my girlfriend when she is out of town because she is deaf and can't talk on the phone. it's a nice change of pace then texting all the time.

I studied sign language and a bit of deaf ed in the 1970s and I love the way computers have opened so many communication possibilities for deaf people. It used to be only people who had TTY could phone. Now they can use the same thing everyone else does.

@petatonicsca She is teaching me sign language but I am such a slow learner that it is going to be a long process. I am just learning the basics for now.

How adorable! Nice. I have skyped in the past with my sister or other friends who were traveling or studying abroad. It is nice to actually be able to see someone's face while talking to them, especially when they have a kid that you haven't seen in a long time.

I also do that with my son and his daughter. That's really one of the advantages of the computer age. We can watch our grandchildren growing up without even being personally with them.

I have never used Skype friend. It is unfortunate our family is not close ties. But it is very useful for the purpose of families staying in touch. It is precious you could share those moments with your beautiful grand daughter..she is lovely and it is so nice they have a new house.

You have a lovely grand daughter. Skype is a good software to communicate, but today I seldom use it. It is not very necessary to make a real phone call because I think it is much more convenient to leave a message by some apps. As we don't have to consider the time zone difference and it will not bother others in the wrong time.

She is adorable, just look at those big eyes I've never used either but not because I don't want to, unfortunately those on the other end have no patience for this kind of communication and usually it takes 2 to connect visually.

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to use it if I didn't know the other party very well @petatonicsca

Yeah the whatsapp, Skype and viber are best for online talks.

We sometimes speak to our son in Ireland on Skype. It's great you're able to see your grandson and follow his development.

@petatonicsca Sorry - you say 'she' but I was already talking 'my son' blah blah.
