One early May I went to my favorite lake in Central Illinois, where the lake is small but the fish are big. I have gone to this lake many many times. But on this particular visit I saw these flowers all over the ground and was confused. I have never seen these here before, or anywhere for that matter. I came to find out that these were the flowers from a tulip tree. I have never heard of a tulip tree, but I find these flowers very unusual.

Strange isn't it. It's just a post your flower challenge to make everyone happy because of this gloomy winter.

@DianneN They are pretty, they were all over the ground, the trees they came from so high I couldn't see them up there, but they were falling.

They are very pretty. I saw a post about a tulip tree a few months ago on the other site and looked it up to find out where they were common to. Interesting they also grow here.

I did not know they are called tulip trees, I knew the Latin name, Liriodendron, that means "lily tree". They are beautiful.

There is a tree in the south they call a tulip tree, it has huge white flowers. When I lived in the north we called a Magnolia tree a tulip tree.

@Platespinner but we all know you were a child bride. You did know that marrying at 16 requires a guardians signature.

@Platespinner but think how old that makes me. I provided the flower girl for your wedding. She walked under her own steam. There was no stroller or wagon involved.
