Bored Meeting

We have a new president! He was the mayor of our little city here in Florida. I met him last week at our monthly board meeting, which was quite heated to say the least. My hubby, pictured in beautiful Pamukkale, Turkey, where I took the waters) was asked to run for president, but turned it down. He thought running our condo for 8 months of the year from Connecticut, where we live, would not be feasible or in the best interests of the association. Meanwhile, he attended another meeting last night. He has been president of many clubs and associations, including his own school system. The mayor likes his input. I remained home to play catchup on myLot. I get bored.

I used to be involved in politics. Helped found a city and get it started (10 years of lots of work), but I am retired not only from my profession, but from politics too.

My husband was involved in politics, too. It was very time consuming. I am sure you did a wonderful job in your profession and in politics.

@DianneN Teacher for forty years, civic leader for about twelve. City commissioner for nine of those. They were both lots of fun. It was great to see the results.

Thank you! He is such a nice man that respect comes naturally to him. Even my hairdresser told me what a nice man he was when he picked me up from my hair appointment, yesterday.

Yeah, those sort of things bore me to the point where various body parts drop off. But then again, I have a hideously low boredom threshold!!!

@WorDazza Never, not even in my black silk nightgown, even if the meeting was held on a Saturday night.

Normally, I would get on my iPad to pass the boredom, but that would be as bad as showing up in my jammies.

It sounds like he made a good decision for himself and for everyone involved, the distance is too far. I'm sure that the person who will hold that position will appreciate his input for the betterment of the community.

@DianneN He's better to do what he can on a consultation basis and maybe eventually if you ever relocate to Florida he can do it on a full time basis.

It is a lot of work and a pain dealing with so many issues. My son was president of his co- op in NYC. I don't know how he found the time.

Without a doubt. My husband met with him a couple of days ago, and feels the mayor president knows how to run a city, and therefore a condo.

I would agree that it would be hard to run the condo from CT and your husband was smart to decline. It's a lot of work and a headache to be president (I would assume)

Not to mention dealing with complaints so far away. He likes the mayor president, because he knows how to deal with problems and people. They had a nice chat two days ago. I like his ideas, too.
