Now I'm Distracted

My daughter just called me. She asked if I had heard about the accident along the QEW this morning. No, I've been out with my father. Why? Were you involved? Are you okay? Mom, I'm okay, but the Escape rolled three times. Are you sure you are okay? The paramedics brought me my purse. I needed some stitches in my hand. I have a bruised knee.....but the Escape is totalled. Are you sure you are okay? Thank God for protecting her. The damage to the car shows just how bad it could have been. She was wearing her seatbelt, properly. I'm sure in the next few days she'll discover more aches and bruises.

@Morleyhunt I hope so. She should have plenty of time to rest and relax, healing up from her injuries.

We are so grateful. This could have ended much differently. She is going on holidays tomorrow evening. This should (hopefully) give her some time to heal.

It usually takes a few days for the body to show signs of injury unless they are visible and needing immediate care such as the stitches that she had to have. I hope for her sake that she doesn't have more problems. When I was hit by a truck it totalled my Ford Taurus. I didn't feel anything but shaky from the accident. Two days later I lost strength in my left arm and my neck and back muscles were strained. Found out through a MRI that I had a mildly bulging disc in my neck. It took several months of rehab to get me back to health.

I was rear ended almost thirty years ago. Most of the symptoms I experienced were blamed on my pregnancy. Five years later I am in extreme pain....delayed whiplash. The things you learn.

@kaka135 Last I heard the cuts and scrapes were healing. The bruising was just starting to show...the sore neck came and went. She did mention she was having trouble sleeping.

Oh, holy crap @Morleyhunt . I'm glad she is okay but you are right, she is going to be pretty sore in the next few days. Did she have any xrays done to make sure she didn't have any neck or spine injuries?

@Morleyhunt Better to have her do it before she goes on vacation instead of while she is. She wouldn't want to ruin her vacation because something came up.

The dr in the ER was not very thorough. I suggested last night that she go to our local urgent care. I'll be seeing her in an hour. Then she goes on vacation for a week.

I´m glad that your daughter wasn´t seriously hurt although I´m sure that, as days go by, she will discover other aches. The car does not matter: it is just a material thing.

When she told me, I think my heart stopped. That is always one of my fears. They all drive miles and no one has ever been in a serious accident. That's not to say they've never been involved in an accident.

We are thankful that her injuries aren't more serious. I still would like to question the ER Doctor. He didn't seem concerned that she had blurred vision. I told her, if need be, go back to see another doctor.

@morleyhunt You won't believe she's ok unless you see her for yourself! I suppose this is one of the down sides of having kids. We can't wrap them in cotton wool but wrapping them in prayer is a must.

Seatbelt really saves life. Its a good practice to wear it as soon as you are seated. Car manufacturers nowadays realized its importance, you cannot switch the motor engine unless you put on your seatbelt. Your daughter has the presence of mind to put it on before she takes the road. God is good.
