Does freedom of speech mean that one can lie and exaggerate about anything and take peoples' money? Help me understand this? I got an email pitching me to buy a book entitled: The Doctor Who Cures Cancer Once, I bought this book that claimed that almost every diseases was Your Body's Many Cries For Water On Amazon they sell this book The Cure for All Diseases: With Many Case Histories by Hulda Regehr Clark Come on? Why does the government allow this? Is it because what they say is all true? Help me as I don't understand this world?

There are plenty of SCAM books around, those that pretend to teach how to lose 20 pounds in a week and never gain them back again, to those who want to teach how to make money doing nothing. I agree with @boiboing those should be filed under "fiction", or "jokes".

@LadyDuck I can understand a fiction book with any title but when one claims to be a doctor and writes books with titles that are of a medical nature, isn't it against the law to do that?

@vandana7 Yes, fiction is fine but lying about cures to serious diseases, should that not be a crime?

@LadyDuck Her book is still on sale. The Doctor Who Cures Cancer is supposedly by a doctor. The Water book was also by a doctor or supposedly.

Technically, as long as they provide something, even if the content is not worth the price, it is not a fraud. It is why it is better to buy a book in a bookstore to be able to browse through it before buying it.

"The Doctor Who Cures Cancer" is the title of the book. While it may be misleading, it may not be a lie. It really does not say that the information in the book cures cancer but that the doctor does. It implies that curing cancer is the role of doctors.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean we have to fool people into believing what you have falsely written . That's a scam actually .
