When Baked Things Happen To Good Spuds

This short-short story was previously posted on another site but since removed. Since I am baking potatoes for dinner tonight I thought it appropriate to resurrect. Spud Story Julienne and Augratin Spud were last seen heading into a building authorities believe they thought was a spa. Witnesses spotted the hapless pair in the company of a tall man in a white coat, and wearing a puffy topped white hat on his head. The building was actually the lair of notorious potato bakers, Saul T and Butram Chivers. Detective "Just Feed Me Meat" Atkins told this reporter that he'd had the building under surveillance for sometime, but at the time the Spuds went missing the Detective had just finished the second of his two turkey leg lunch and had fallen asleep. Awakened by passers-by who thought it suspicious that a man dressed as a chef would be leading two walking talking potatoes into an establishment known, according to the sign over the door, as the "Tater Spa," they awakened the sleeping detective who, after chowing down on a Slim Jim, listened to their story and immediately, after taking a bite of chicken jerky, made his way across the street to investigate. Finding the door locked, the detective worked his way behind the building, stopping only for a moment at the burger joint next door for a quick snack, and took this photo of the alleged crime with his trusty phone camera. Spotting the flash, the two suspects fled the premises with what was believed to be the baked Spuds and an undisclosed quantity of butter and sour cream. Detective Atkins took off in pursuit but was waylaid by a sale on ground chuck at the local butcher shop. Anyone with information on the fate, or tastiness of the baked Spuds, please call 555-55B-ACON.

Nice story. I love stuffed spuds but they're now quite pricey at fairs, etc.
