Gambling can make you rich. True or not?

I don't like gambling at all, and I really don't know how to do it. But some of my friends like gambling very much and they consider that gambling can be a tool to enrich themselves.
In fact I saw many people falling into poverty because of gambling. Many households be destroyed because gambling. I believe that gambling can make someone addicted to continue to do it until forget all.So I think that is better to avoid rather than try it. Only a few lucky people be rich because of gambling, but more people miserable because of gambling.
What do you think about it?

Gambling should be avoided. It can be an addiction and the outcome is bad.

Well Poker is considered Gambling but it is now considered a sport. Well it is gambling but not relying on luck.

You can make money from gambling but you can also lose money.
My old friend was a VERY successful gambler and made hundreds of thousands on horse racing.
I've only ever really seen the success side of gambling but have heard of people losing everything.
Personally I don't gamble.
