Waking up to NO TIRES, NO WHEELS on your Truck!!

United States

What would you do if you woke up to no tires or wheels on your vehicle? This did not happen to me, but as I was pulling out of the neighborhood - this truck was missing ALL 4 - tires/wheels. The truck only had 3 jack stands (2 in the front and 1 in the back)... ... I would be super pissed off if someone stole my tires/wheels. It isn't common to have such crime in the area either. Anything strange like this happen in your neighborhood?

do you think someone truly stole them? I think if they had, would they not take the jacks as well?

The truck is parked on an alley street. There is minimal lighting so it's easy for thieves to break into cars. The thieves would have to put the car jacks up so they can steal the wheels/tires. Right now the truck is floating with just the jacks.

Really , even there , there are robbers like that ? Here robbers would rob the mirrors of cars parked by the road .

Sadly yes! There are people who even break the window of cars here to steal books and clothing. I had a friend who had someone scratch a Honda logo off her car too.

If the tires were stolen, thieves would not leave jacks cause they are expensive as well, you would probably see large pieces of rocks or tree trunks or wood. They would jack it up,steal; the tires, put the rock or wood in place then go to the next tire, same procedure using only one jack, so no jacks would be left in the crime scene.

The jacks aren't very inexpensive. I don't think they'd find wood or rocks strong enough to support this heavy diesel truck. The jacks can actually be found in the cars emergency kit in the trunk/bed of the truck just one so they needed two more. I am sure they wore gloves to hide evidence and have a lot of experience of stealing too!

@louievill I think because the truck is so heavy, it is diesel or even v8 - they cannot put blocks lol.

When we lived in Italy this happened to us, they removed all the tires of our cars and put on old tires. It was a common practice there in the end of the seventies.

@LadyDuck Oh I guess the thought that counts, lol. Maybe they can in flat it and go to the nearest tire shop. These people, I have no idea what they're going to do. Buy tires and install it themselves then go to the shop to get it balanced and all?

I suppose the tyres were really stolen and the owner didn't take them off for some reason? That would be so annoying to have them stolen.

Yeah, I'm sure the tires were stolen because it's an alley street where you can park your car and then you'd have to walk a little ways to your house. On that street several had their cars broken into just to steal random things but never anything like this.

@JudyEv Yes, I cannot even imagine. They're the large truck tires.

@infatuatedbby That would be such an expense to have to replace four wheels.

I have had my car broken into before. My stereo stolen in my old car. Luckily this last time they broke in in my new car, they didn't take my $300 stereo. I think they were just in and out. Looking for something quick. Other then that, nothing all that interesting.

My parents had their license plates switched in the past. We reported it to the police and had to pay money to get new license plates even though it wasn't our fault. I am glad the second time around, they didn't steal anything.

I haven't heard of this happening nearby before. It'd be really annoying to find out the tires or wheels are missing. I wonder how long the thieves took to remove all four tires, and nobody has noticed that too.

Those people are really experienced, it could take them probably even 5 mins or less with a few guys!

Maybe the owner did it on purpose for whatever reason...

I do not think so as the car was parked in an alley with a bunch of other cars. Very unfortunate since the truck was the last car on the road, nearest to the street light to make it easier for people to steal.
