After 30 long years this Canadian man finally remembers who he is. 30 years ago he was on a bus to another city and fell, hit his head and his memory was gone. When he started to remeber his real name he told the Social worker who then researched that name and found out that this was a missing persons case. The police department did a DNA test sample to be compared to a relative and it was a positive match. His mother was then contacted and as you would expect she was overcome with emotion. He has mental health problems and has the mind of a 12 year old. There are a lot of questions like where did he live, how did he survive?

@amadeo I think that is the big question why did it take so long to find him.

People can disappear and others don't know where to look for them. I think everyone should have to have their DNA taken when born but too many people would object.

@GreatMartin It may come to that someday but I don't know why there would be any objections except people would say Big Brother is interfering.

What a fascinating case! It's a shame he lost 30 years with a loving family though. I'd love to know more about the story.

@Marcyaz My guess is he acquired a new identity out of necessity and was under the radar all that time because people forgot about him.

Memory loss from amnesia can last for a life time. You mentioned social worker, so my guess is he was being taken care of by their agency. They also look after the disabled.
