Oh, if only the rest of the government could move this fast! One month to the day after Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey died from pneumonia and other complications of intestinal surgery his hometown has honored him. A street in suburban Royal Oak, Michigan, where Frey grew up and went to high school, was renamed "Glenn Frey Drive" yesterday (February 18). The high school Frey attended is on that particular street, so the school board voted to rename the street in honor of one of the Motor City's favorite musical sons. I'm sorry he isn't around to see the tribute, but congratulations to Royal Oak's school board for giving the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member such a nice remembrance!
The city of Royal Oak has paid tribute to Glenn Frey, the Eagles co-founder who died last month. He was 67.

Isn't there a statue of him on a corner in Winslow? Or am I confused?

There's a statue of a guy with a guitar in Winslow. It's called the "Standing on a Corner" park and was erected to commemorate the line from "Take It Easy," "I'm standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona." I have never read that it's "supposed to be" either Glenn or Jackson Browne (the two who wrote the song), however.

@FourWalls - Ah. Didn't know about Jackson Brown, but now that you mentioned it, that song is right up his alley.

That was fast, you are right, too bad the other parts of government don't act so quickly.

Glenn Frey earned the right to have a street named in his memory since The Eagles were one of the greatest rock and roll bands of our generation.

That is nice to hear. Just hope the street signs are not stolen like the AC/DC street signs in Melbourne.
