Getting My Exercise In

I love being retired but one of the disadvantages is that I can get quite sedentary since there is nothing I have to do and no time limits on me. I wear a Fitbit Charge in order to remind myself to move more. This morning I decided to ride my recumbent bike for 45 minutes and followed that with a 5 minute jump on my mini trampoline. I immediately started a 30 minute Walk Away the Pounds video on YouTube and did that. While I still hadn't met my step goal for the day I had a good start on it. I try to march while I'm doing things around the house and sometimes while I'm watching television I'll stand and do a 10 or 15 minute walk. I hit my goal and I've added few extra steps and plan to do another quick march in place while I'm watching tv tonight just to give me that little bit of extra steps...oh and I do try to go up and down the stairs at least five times too. I have all day to get in enough exercise, but sometimes I find that is the problem...I have all the time in world and can procrastinate my day away. Do you do intentional exercise? What is your favorite exercises to do?

Going out and walking everyday is great exercise. I can't wait until it is warmer here so I can get outside and walk too!

Riding is such good exercise. I try to get my recumbent bike everyday but don't always make it...I average 150 - 200 miles a month on it.

I am much too sedentary on the days I don't work. I joined a walking group and that helps. I join them one or two walks per week. We do about 4 km it seems most times. Any way I need to do more as that is not regular enough.

I too am retired, it's so easy to get lazy in the winter. In the warmer months it's not a problem as we fish, camp, and hike often.

I'm not as active as I should be and find myself sitting much longer at the computer than I should. I have to force myself to get up and move around

I try to walk 1-2 hours a day or ride my bike. When it its raining or too windy, I do nothing! Keep up the good work!
