We went adventuring

I love to go adventuring. By adventuring I mean taking a road we have never traveled before. Yesterday we drove 30 miles to go to another town to eat at a restaurant I read about. It was very good so worth the drive. On the way back home I told my husband to make a turn onto a road that I didn't know. I had no idea where it would lead but actually about half way through it we saw signs that it was a scenic road. Good choice as it turns out. We went by lots of horse farms, one had loads of ponies. I should have stopped to take a picture but we didn't. We drove about 10 miles extra but it was worth it for the adventure. Do you ever go adventuring?

@BelleStarr In Santo Domingo we ended up in a sugar cane field, completely lost in the middle of nowhere and it's incredible how much dust there is in a sugar cane filed.

We do that in CT a lot in the summer in our convertible. We love the shoreline and roads to Litchfield. We have found quaint restaurants and wonderful antique shops. Love your photo of the live oak!!!

Yes I do go adverturing quite often and we last week saw a coyota going down a dirt road and then later on coming home we saw all those deer. I wish I could take a picture of the ponies I see coming home from one of my adventures

Yes I do, providing I'm not pushed for time. There are so many wonderful out of the way places to be found in this way. Mind you, I've also found these sort of places accidentally when I've been lost

I can't begin to tell you how many B roads we have traveled in England, I have found the best places this way. we do it in Pennsylvania near our home as well. One bad thing is I don't always remember exactly the route we took and I have one antique shop I can't find again lol

Years ago, I used to take different roads heading in the correct direction to pick up my kids from college or go to a nearby town. It's flatlands around here and no farming communities where I traveled through. Seemed to take a lot longer too, but probably because I wasn't 100% sure where i was going to end up.

@BelleStarr If nothing else, it helps one feel more comfortable when getting lost, if you're not missing a deadline that is.

We like travelling the back roads too. There are many interesting things to be found off the main highways and roads. You'll need to go back there and take a photo of the ponies for me :)

My husband and I do that a lot. Love going on a road I had never been on. Many times during a camping trip we take the longer newer route over the faster one. It's run to see farms and other things we have never seen.

The US is a really wonderful place, so large that we will never run out of places to wander. My friend and I did it in Ireland last fall and found some things we never expected to.

@BelleStarr And that's why I will never leave this country, I love that there is so much to see that I haven't. That's the main reason among a couple of other reasons. I have no desire to leave the US and travel.

Doing that also lets you navigate better you cover more grounds and have less chances of you getting lost because you will know more places. I think its nice and its also something you can learn from. Its like learning how to be your own gps

@OKennedy Nope in this family he is the driver and I am the navigator. Funny our kids are a mixed bag, my daughter is like her dad and our sons are like me!! One of them even drives for a living and the other is a traveling nurse!! Thank goodness my daughter works from her home!! We might never see her again. lol

@BelleStarr I just find that our weekends are usually pretty full between chores around the house and errands to run, and sometimes I like a little downtime. I like going for drives in the early spring to see the ice floats on the rivers in our area and in the fall to see the fall foliage.
