Shell Gas Station the scene of a man and his hot pants

Josh Hamilton of Owensboro, KY is an e-cigarette smoker. He probably thought that an e-cig was safe but he found out differently. Will quit smoking completely now...or what? While standing inline inside of a Shell Gas Station poor Mr. Hamilton's e-cig battery exploded setting his pants on fire. He rushed out the door while struggling to get the heck out of his burning pants. He could have done serious damage to his.....you get where I'm going with that don't you?! An employees used a fire extinguisher on the man and someone else drove him to a hospital. It turns out he has second degree burns, so he's probably not laughing about this. I wonder if he will switch to regular smokes now? I feel a lawsuit coming in against the e-cig manufacturer. Photo: /pixabay.com/en/cigarette-tobacco-smoking-cancer-42846/

He's probably one of those that bought the cheapest he could find and got all he paid for.

@AbbyGreenhill ....Same as with that toy they were showing at christmastime. The platform that you ride on that has lithium batteries and some have exploited.

I don't know much about them, but my husband said those batteries explode quite easily.

I have read the news no more than five minutes ago. I am sure that he is going to sue the e-cig manufacturer and I hope this can open the eyes of other e-cig smokers. No matter how you smoke, smoke can kill.

The cheaper ones have been known to do that. I wonder if they come with a warning or disclaimer?

Anything with a battery can explode. I have never looked at a pack of them so I have no clue about safety warnings.

Oh my goodness, what a story. There is a rule at gas stations not to light regular ciggs while pumping gas, and it is not good to smoke e-ciggs either!

It just happened over the weekend - in Kentucky. It was on the national news this morning. The one you heard about must be a different guy.

depends, this isnt' common. Did he build his own, damage in some way, or get something near it that caused it to have a problem. I carried mine for the last year, in and out of my pocket and it never got it. I did look over one day and wonder why my purse was smoking, it was on and something was jammed against the button
