The Love Of Islands

Islands have been our destination for quite a few vacations.
We took a cruise around the Caribbean islands. They were all so different and unique, having their own special appeal.
Loved staying in St Thomas in The U.S.V.I. and from there explored the surrounding areas. The coves and inlets and lovely white sandy beaches.
We hired a little wooden cottage at the top a hill, overlooking Tortola island, and other small ones in the distance. From there you could watch lovely schooners and other sailing boats in full sail, gliding past at dawn to dusk.
The snorkelling at Koki Point was wonderful and we were blessed to see so many stunning tropical fish in iridescent colours, swimming unconcerned amongst us.
Took a ferry ride to St . John where we walked to the top of a mountain overlooking Trunk Bay where we had snorkelled that morning. The view was out of this world with the Caribbean sea in aquamarine, spread out below us, to the horizon.
The people who live on these islands are so friendly and always greet you with a smile, as you walk around the little villages and markets. Hard working and humble people with big hearts.
The Island life never disappoints and you are lulled to sleep by the tropical night, the summer songs that drift through your window, to a beat and rhythm of their own.

We've never stayed on an island but it sounds great fun. I'll have to keep it in mind for another time.
