Hired But No Job

This is a real frustrating experience of my friend, he was hired in a certain organization. After the exchanging of messages and requirements to fill in a job post. Then suddenly the management of this organization decided that they will not push through the said hiring. The sad thing, my friend didn't apply to any other job posting for more than 2 months. The organization gave him false hope for that period of time. Imagine the awaited time he had gone through then this organization just send a message that there is no job posting. The last thing he did is to bombard questions and questioning the credibility of the human resource of the organization to know the word professionalism.

@abrielle28 You got it right my friend. My friend was thinking to file a formal complaint. I will keep you posted if he had executed his plan against this organization.

@CoralLevang I guess he just wanted to call the attention of the management. It is a deception that he was informed of being hired and instructed for further instruction. I do believe that there is signing of Memorandum of Understanding in regards to this matter.

Did he receive an offer with no start date? It's not clear whether he received an offer or not. The organisation might just say "we are looking to hire" without actually say " you're hired and start x day." If the organisation just said "we're looking to hire" then dropped the hiring req, there's nothing wrong with that. But if they made an offer then it's a different story

@Drosophila There is no specific date for him to start. He was given an instruction to wait for further instructions. Since the project is still on going. I think there is really something wrong with the management in the organization.

@Drosophila Actually, the two months period have constant communication between he and the organization. There is no rejection happened. He was being hired and signed contract. The only thing that is missing when will be the starting date of his job.

@Shavkat that actually sounds like a rejection. If the company says, we'll let you know more about this job and never get in touch. its like don't call us, we'll call you. It's a rejection. Not an offer! Don't understand why your friend thought it was an offer for a job

That's sad. He should not have stopped applying for the job may be he would have found a better job in these two months.

@sjvg1976 That's the reason why my friend has its resentment. It is so inconsiderate for this organization to have 2 months of waiting.

He should have went to their office and apply. It could be just another bogus organization, they didn't ask for a fee, didn't they?

Something like this would be very frustrating. But of course, the business has to make decisions regarding its needs, and employees are not part of that decision. If you don't need someone, you don't need them and hiring them anyway would be pointless.
