I haven't been able to travel abroad since 2012, but I always dream about the places that I want to visit in the future. There are so many beautiful and interesting places around the world, and if I could afford it I would travel around the world. When my friends and I discuss travel destinations they mention 5 or 10 places around the world that they would like to visit. I always find it hard to pick just a few places. There are some places that I would avoid for safety reasons, but I think that every country has something to offer, and I think that every country is interesting in its own way. How do you decide which countries you want to visit? Which country would you visit if you could choose any place in the world?

If you are going to very faraway place, it is better that you visit a few countries in the continent. There is not much point in taking flights of 10 hours or so to a place and stay just a weekend there. Personally I think for some areas, taking a cruise is better. You have food and accommodation paid for, and you just have to save up extra for the shore excursions.

I agree with that. I prefer to visit several countries when I travel to a place that is far away from my home. When I went to Asia in 2012 I visited 4 different countries on the same trip. A cruise is a good choice I think. I have gone on mini cruises in Scandinavia, but I would like to go on a long cruise one day.

It is great to visit places where we have friends who can show us around. I can't afford to travel at the moment, but I always dream about the places I want to visit in the future. I hope to visit Asia again in the future. That is one of my dreams.

@anh101 I hope that I will be able to return to Vietnam. There are many differences between Europe and Asia and I think that is one of the things that makes travelling exciting. I love to experience the differences.

Safety is my number one prioty, We dont want to visit a country with impending coup d'état or country that is on currently torned by war. I will also check the weather reports of that nation. You dont want to be in a tropical country that is about to have a signal number 4 typhoon.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I don't want to experience an earthquake when I travel. We have earthquakes in Denmark, but they are so small that we don't feel them.

Yes, safety is very important. I love to travel, but I don't want to visit a country where I am worried about my safety. It is best to stay away from certain places, and I always check the safety situation before I book my trip. The weather reports are important, too. I don't know much about typhoons, what does signal number 4 typhoon mean?

@Porcospino That is why weather advisory is something we should not take for granted if we wanted to travel. Earthquake advisories are also important. You wont visit Japan during earthquake season.

My country is a nice place to visit because of the conversion rate hehehe, another plus is that if you are the type of person who likes nature, beaches then visit a tropical country like Philippines . You will also habe no problem with communication because majority of us understand and can communicate in English.

I have never been to the Philippines, but it is one of the countries in my travel wish list My country has a cold climate and I love tropical countries. On a cold winter day I dream about visiting a place like the Philippines.

@dazzledlady I definitely want to visit one than one Asian country at the same time. The plane ticket from Denmark is expensive so I want visit several places while I am there I can't afford to travel at the moment, but I hope that I will be able to travel in the future when our financial situation improves.

@Porcospino you should . the airfare is just costly I think but after that I think you will find that most of the things in my country are cheap. If you ever decide to visit philippines then aim for an asian tour considering the fact that you come all the way from Denmark.

Would you like to live in England or Ireland? I lived in Scotland 16 years ago, and I miss it sometimes.

@TiarasOceanView Scotland is beautiful, I lived near Aberdeen and I had the chance visit some of the other places in my free time. The only thing I didn't like was the weather. The first thing I bought was an umbrella

I guess I like European countries better than Asian ones. The climate has a bigger bearing on where I'd like to go now that I'm older. I don't like the heat much.

I think that Europe it is a good place to visit if you don't like a hot climate. Did you visit many places in Europe? Personally I don't like the cold winters in Northern Europe and I like to visit countries with a hot climate.

@JudyEv It is nice that you had to the chance to drive through several countries. I have been to France, Germany and the Czech Republic, but I haven't seen much of Austria. I hope you will manage to go back next year

In fact my traveling time is either on my son's summer or winter vacation. Since I like we will have a family travel. Of course I will consider the flight ticket price at first because this is the big budget. And then I shall consider whether it is easy to get the visa. So far I still think the documents are complicated for Chinese and I have to hand in many things. I wish one day the visa can be easier to get so that we can travel more easily. In this aspect you are very lucky because you can visit many countries with your Denmark passports without problems. You don't have to apply for the visa. It is quite convenient.

That is true. Danish citizens need a visa for most African countries and some Asian countries like China, Russia and India, but we can visit many countries around the world without a visa, and that makes things a lot easier. I hope that it will become easier for you to travel in the future and I hope that you won't have to go through a lot of trouble to get a visa. Do you need a visa for every single country you want to visit or can you visit a few countries without a visa?

@Porcospino I heard that we don't have to apply to a visa to visit about 50 countries, but most of them are really not popular and I doubt whether people will go there. I know Danish need to apply for a visa to visit China. My friend told me that he also had to prepare many documents. But I told him actually I would prepare much more documents and it is difficult and complicated. And most of the time you don't have to be reject. But I will be worried whether I will get my visa successfully. And without it, sometimes I dare not to book the flights as they will not return me money if I can't go there. As to all the documents I have to provide, they include the hotel booking, flight etc. So you can see my worries.

@youless I haven't been to China yet, and I don't know the details about the visa process, but I imagine that it will take a while to prepare all those documents. If we book hotel and flight first we might not get the money back if we don't get a visa, but if they need to see the booking information before we receive a visa we need to book first.

It is great that you have the chance to travel a lot. Travelling is amazing I travelled a lot and lived abroad when I was younger, but at the moment I can't afford it. I have never been Australia or Africa either, but I would like to visit my friend in Australia one day. Africa would be an interesting destination, too.

I decide based on crime rate and prices of food, rent, fare, etc.

Crime rate and safety are also things that I consider. The prices of food, hotels etc are very different around the world, and in some countries it is hard to find a cheap place to stay.

I think that Australia would be a nice place to visit. Our family had an exchange student from Australia and she has invited me, but I haven't had the chance to visit her yet.
