No tracks to follows

I just read a post by @paigea about making the first tracks in the snow. It reminded me of an incident that happened many years ago. I had to drive a few miles to work every morning and dropped my two children off at the baby-sitters on the way. I also picked up a couple of others who worked at the same place. One morning after a snowstorm, I was driving down a side road which was covered with snow and you could not tell where the ditches were. I got over two far and put the car off the road, and was unable to get it out. We got out of the car and walked the short distance to my sister-in-law's, and on the way we met the plow coming. My son and daughter were running ahead of us. He saw the plow and got off the road, but my daughter didn't see it at first. I was so scared it was going to hit her, as snow was flying high and the driver probably didn't even see her. At the last minute, she realized what was happening and ran out of the way. I believe with all my heart that God was protecting her that morning, and gave Him thanks for it. My brother-in-law took us back to the car, and had a lot of shoveling to do, because the plow had almost buried my car. So I don't like to be the first one to make tracks in the snow.

I do not like either and your story reminded me a cute little 6 year girl, who was in school with me and was killed by a snowplow. The driver did not see her and she was hit and covered by the snow.

@AnneEJ Yes, she was such a nice little girl, we were all shocked.

@LadyDuck So you were still in school when that happened, Anna? That would be even worse I'd think, to lose a classmate in that fashion.

Oh, that is sad, but I can see how it could happen. God is so good to me.

When we look back on our life, we can see so many times that He was there for us, keeping us from harm

@AnneEJ There are many times when we don't even know what He's protecting us from, that's why it's good to be thankful all the time, and pray about everything we do.

@MarshaMusselman You are so right. I can think of many times when He has been there to protect me and my family from danger and harm. I can't imagine trying to live without the presence of the Lord.

Yes I believe that, and when I see the lady she has become and what she is contributing, I know the Lord protected her for a special purpose.

I know what you mean, I hate being the one to cut the path in the early morning hours. I'm glad that nobody was hurt in that incident.

I was going to suggest on paige's page that you mention her in yours, but I see that you did that already. Many people don't which I don't understand. I think it's cool to see how one of our memories will spur a remembrance in another person. I think God was watching out for your daughter that day as well. It was scary just reading about it. I thought at first that the person plowing might help you get out of the ditch, but he seemed oblivious. Did you have to have a wrecker pull your car from the ditch? Surely you couldn't manage that with the help of relatives? My daughters car spun off the road when she was on the way to a piano recital for college. It spun off the road twirled around and landed facing the road in a ditch off the highway. The road was plowed, but she hit a patch of ice when she moved to the one lane open too late.

@AnneEJ I was riding home from a school in the mid eighties and the car we were en went into a low ditch too. We prayed and someone stopped by to help us out right afterward. We wondered whether God sent an angel to our rescue.

We were not near the car when the plow went by it. My brother-in-law shoveled and with us pushing we were able to get out. It was not a deep ditch and that was the problem. You could not tell where the sides of the road were, and I got over too far in the deep snow. I know God was watching out for us, and I thanked Him again yesterday for being there to protect us

@MarshaMusselman You are probably right, sometimes good neighbours are angels in disguise.

I can imagine how frightened you were. You were all blessed that day, even though the car had to be dug out.

I hadn't thought of it for awhile, but I will always remember seeing that plow coming towards her and being too far away to do anything.
